American Idol is gearing up for a first: a hip-hop judge. Word on the street is that Nicki Minaj is in talks with the show to become its newest judge.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Minaj is close to signing on for the gig. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler left the show last season.
If the deal goes through, Nicki will be joining Mariah Carey. Randy Jackson has not confirmed if he'll return or not. Kanye West, Enrique Iglesias and Keith Urban have also been mentioned as possible judges. It's all speculation at this point, but we could get an entirely new panel next season. Season 12 of American Idol returns in January.
A rapper on American Idol? Didn't see that one coming.

What funny about this story, that Nicki Minaj told Jlo when she was performing on Idol In March 29, she told Jlo I want your job, and Jlo replied, theirs no room for the two of us. I guess Nicki Minaj wasn’t playing around, she got her wish, I think she will be in entertaining side of Idol, because she has a crazy personally, but I think she can get serious when she wants to, because it takes a serious person to accomplish what she has done a few years she has been in the music industry, she portray that crazy person as part of her act, but I can tell she’s a serious person. So Jlo, steps aside for the real super stars.

Now check your boy out at #9.
That people’s list layout is boss.
Indeed. As far as the results go there is a lot of Radiohead bias, but what do ya expect?
Cool to see Madvillainy at 42, but regardless, I really don’t care for what Pitchfork says.
I don’t blame you. I don’t really care what anyone thinks when it comes to what music i like, but can i ask what exactly it is about pitchfork that you don’t care for?
I apologize in advance for how long this might be. There’s one main thing I don’t like about Pitchfork. They seem to take a really obscure view of a band at the very beginning and run with it throughout their career without opening their mind to different ways of approaching each album. For example, I’m a huge Silversun Pickups fan. I understand they aren’t regarded as Radiohead or Beck or whatever, so I’m not expecting a 9 or 8 or even a 7 for their albums. What I can’t stand is that in every single one of their album review, they mention the Smashing Pumpkins in some way, as if they were trying to clone them (I’m also a Smashing Pumpkins fan and the two bands are very different. If anything, they’re more like My Bloody Valentine, but I digress…) . Or check out their review of Camp by Childish Gambino. They gave like a 1 or 1.something out of 10. Most hip hop fans think its a pretty good album, but the whole time they talked about how he has a fake, insecure image. Really, I don’t think they should even review hip hop. When Waka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane are getting 8/10’s and Eminem’s Recovery got a 2.8 (I don’t like Recovery much either, but come on), I can’t take your advice on much. *steps down from soap box*
Well said, sir.
