Did 50 Cent Really Shut Down World Star Hip Hop?

By , About.com GuideJanuary 24, 2011

Follow me on:

WorldStarHipHop.com went out of commission on Jan. 24. 50 Cent immediately assumed responsibility for the site's disappearance with such public gallantry that would make Al Qaeda green with envy.

"I don't know why people underestimate me. I just shut down WORLDSTAR," 50 tweeted. "I want to thank howard gordon and the good folks over at homeland .hahaha suckers your move."

Ever the avid self-promoter, Fif pummeled WSHH with one hand and plugged his own hip-hop site, ThisIs50.com, with the other. "Me and @FloydMayweather don't thing worldstar was good representation of black people as a hole. We will present better."

50 Cent later called New York station Hot 97 and retracted his earlier claims. "Why would I do something like that? Just because I can?"

Similarly, World Star CEO, Q, called Angie Martinez and confirmed that the site was experiencing technical difficulties. "It's a miscommunication and we should be up shortly." He says he expects the site to be back and running within 24 hours.

So, there you have it, boys and girls. 50 was just clowning around.
