Jay-Z to Perform "Empire State of Mind" at World Series
This one is almost straight out of a storybook: Jay-Z drops a New York anthem, replete with references to the Yankees ("I made the Yankee hat more famous than the Yankees can"). The Yankees somehow make it to the World Series. Now Jay and fellow NY native Alicia Keys are set to perform "Empire State of Mind" on Game 1 of the World Series as the Yankees take on the Philiadelphia Phillies this Wednesday.
Jay pointed out that, while "Empire State of Mind" has evolved into an unofficial New York anthem, he's not pushing for it to be the Big Apple's official theme song. "I'm not pitching it for anything, it's just a song I made for New York City," Jay said in an interview. "Really it's about inspiration, it's about hope -- I think that's what connects with people. The song connects outside of New York. Every night I play it, there's a monster response, no matter if we're in Providence or whenever."
I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to the performance. Jay's camp should elect someone to keep an eye on Lil Mama to avoid another stage-crashing episode.

Haha. Yeah they probably would have people making sure Lil mama wouldn’t crash the show. I hope Lil Mama shows up and trys to join them on field and she just gets denied by security. That’d be hilarious.
Yo empire state of mind should have been the single in the place of that damn Rihanna (run this town) single. Rihanna’s voice is obnoxious! Alicia Keys is way better to listen to (and look at)
