Soulja Boy: "I'm the hottest MC in the game"
Last year, MTV compiled a list of Top 10 MCs, which did not include Soulja Boy. While Soulja Boy agrees that he had no place on that list, the teen rapper strongly believes that he's the best MC out right now.
"I think if y’all did it right now, yeah, I deserve to be on there," Soulja Boy said in an interview with MTV News. "But back there, when y’all did it, I probably didn’t have the status that I have right now. I’m Grammy-nominated. If I look at the new list and I compare myself to all 10 of the artists and some don’t add up, I’ll be like, ‘Wow. I should be #1 if it’s right now. I’m #1.”
When asked how he ranks against the likes of Lil' Wayne and Jay-Z, Soulja Boy maintained that he's numero uno. "Right now, yes I’m hotter than them. Today, January — whatever the date this is — 2008, yes [I am the hottest]." Soulja Boy sees himself as a hip-hop pioneer and supports his argument with the online success of "Crank That."
I've been thinking about this for a while, and I can't decide whether Soulja Boy really believes what he says or if he's plain delusional.

First off, I am insulted at the fact Soulja Boy thinks he is a MC who is ranked let alone has a number involved with his MC status. Not that its his fault Hip Hop is becoming irrelevant (mainly because of the coporate entity that is hip hop) but his songs are filled with meaningless and useless first grade words. His song topics are about interesting as the movie Fear.com. The fact that he is taking credit for being a top MC slaps real hip hop artist who do not get radio play let alone recognition as Talib Kweli, Common, Little Brother, and Lupe Fiasco. Those are the top artist in the game who talk about meaningful subject matter, and dont make money off cheap beats.
