No matter what you think of his lyrical skills (or lack of), you can't deny that Dwayne "Lil' Wayne" Carter is a force to reckon with in rap music. He was barely noticed as a member of the seminal Cash Money crew Hot Boys, but with his solo career now shinier than Rudy Giuliani's forehead it's hard to ignore Lil' Weezy. To be as fair as possible his flow is nice, he’ll occassionally say some random stuff and sometimes he’s just a plain weirdo, but can be funny at times. He’s a punchline rapper in the end, and he’ll never have the depth of a jay-z or nas. he’s not the best rapper alive, but he has put together alot of hot verses (on other people’s songs mostly), and no one else has that voice. lil wayne was one of the worst rappers ever when he first came out , But hes improved to being one of the most entertaining and a lot of people wont give him a chance because of a bad start. hes probably the most improved rapper ever. Nobody else went from maybe the worst to a legit good rapper. Hes something like a poormans southern Jay Z. Even when he doesnt have good lyrics his flow makes songs worth hearing.

Some of his metaphors he throws in his flow are great. And he may have stopped writing his stuff down like Jay Z, but I don’t think their overall flow is all that similar.

Weezy’s got good flow,most songs have good lyrics, the beats are hott and hes the best arrtist out right now cause hip-hop is going down hill and hes keeping it up but hes not nearly as good as most rappers before him. The truth is that there is just a different standard now of what is good and bad. By old-school standards, a rapper should be clever with his words, have something to say (at least once in a while) and not be little bitch… But now things are different and people want the exact opposite.. This is why lil wayne is the great rapper that he is! He has the brain of a duck, he always talks about the same thing (which is nothing at all) and if his gay lover farts on him he’ll probably break in two… It’s ok that he has no talent as an MC and that vanilla ice could probably out-rhyme him any day, because this is the age of what I like to call the “mother goose rapper”. I admire lil’ Wayne for his confidence and commercial value. But that is all he is, commercial. His new songs are complete garbage, but they sell records. Just like 50 cent, a face, who had one good record, can sell alot of records. A rapper like Kanye West is consistant and does not change his style; he is on another level. And people know it, and thats why Kanye was voted the hottest rapper of 2008.
