2007 Grammy Awards: Nominees, Predictions, Past Winners

Sunday February 11, 2007

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm a Grammy watcher. But I don't attach so much importance to who wins what -- the artists and label execs are the long-term medalists after all. I watch the Grammys for the "moments." Like, when ODB bum-rushed the stage in 1998 to complain that the Wu deserved to win. If not for that moment, "Wu-Tang is for the children" wouldn't be your favorite rapper's favorite saying today. And you thought Kanye was the first to throw a tantrum onstage?

So, sit back, relax and enjoy our pre-Grammy coverage, as you get ready for the big moment.

I just turned off your 2007 Grammy Awards show because of those rude Un-Amercian Dixie Chicks!

(7) Henry says:

Well, it was a given that the Grammys were going to make a political statement this year by handing everything to my hometown girls. Can’t say they don’t deserve it though.

(8) Susan says:

rdell is ignorant. To be American is to be about and live up to the ideals upon which this silly country was “founded” by the arrogant and misguided Europeans who traveled here and lay claim to it.
To be ashamed of a spoiled undereducated jackass who has forever smeared the goowill and good standing of said country IS being a good American.
Read the first amendment of the constitution and educate your own self. It’s worth it.

what i wanna know is how the hell the dixie chicks beat the red hot chili peppers and john mayer.

who DOESN’T hate bush? that shouldn’t win you a grammy; especially if you can’t even write your own song.

Did Deborah Henson-Conant get her grammy? I don’t care about the rest of them.

(11) RL says:

Maybe it was a good night for freedom of speech…

However even the croud felt an air of discomfort, since clearly the award-giving was rigged to provide an ill-attempt forum for yet another sad, self-important political statement, that has very little (if not nothing) to do with honouring the best music of the remarkable past year…

That being said, eventhough the Dixie Chicks do deserve some show of appreciation for some impressive display of ‘cohonas’ (balls), it is likely this biais will insert a new nail in the Grammys coffin.

Shout out to the Police, though. Who knew Hell would freeze over?

WHAT??? That made no sense!!

(13) Jason Gauthier says:

I think the Dixie Chicks won because it was the best record of that year not because of anything else. I’m not normally a fan of country, but i like that record more than all the others except Be Without You, but maybe if I was a country fan as opposed to an R&B fan, I would feel differently.
