Top 10 Rap Songs for June 3, 2009

Weekly Top 10 chart chronicling the best hip-hop songs

By , About.com Guide

There are two new entrants in this week's Top 10 Hip-Hop Songs chart, including Young Jeezy's "Dead or Alive" and DJ Drama's "Yacht Music." See who else made the chart.

10. Young Jeezy - "Dead or Alive"

Young Jeezy
Trappin' is still very much alive and Young Jeezy's a good reason why. "Dead or Alive" is taken from DJ Folks's Trappin' Ain't Dead mixtape.

9. Clipse - "Kinda Like a Big Deal" (Feat. Kanye West)

Clipse recently shot a video for "Kinda Like a Big Deal." Their new album, Till the Casket Drops, is tentatively scheduled for fall.

8. Dolla - "Georgia Nights"

Dolla recorded this slow cooker just days before he was murdered in L.A. by an unknown assailant.

7. Eminem - "3 a.m."

Thanks in part to the popularity of "We Made You" and this here "3 a.m.," Eminem scored his fifth consecutive No. 1 album this week. Relapse sold a whopping 608,000 copies in its debut week to top the prestigious Billboard 200 Albums chart.

6. J Dilla - "Reality TV" (Feat. Black Thought)

"Reality TV" is taken from Jay Stay Paid, Dilla's second posthumous album. Posthumous albums are usually hit or miss, but Dilla's camp is promising a well-rounded album that does justice to the late great producer's legacy. Anything less would be an insult.

5. Raekwon - "Criminology 2" (Feat. Ghostface Killah)

If you've been attention, you may have noticed that there's a beef brewing between Joe Budden and Method Man over comments Joey made about Meth in a video blog. Raekwon weighed in on the feud, saying that Budden was out of character for going at a legend like Meth.

4. DJ Drama (Ft. Nas, Scarface, Willie the Kid, Marsha Ambrosius) - "Yacht Music"

This star-studded mellow banger appears on DJ Drama's second installment of Gangsta Grillz: The Album. It's way better than that other collaborative single.

3. Slaughterhouse - "Move On"

The ink is still wet on Slaughterhouse's new venture deal with E1 Music. Their self-titled debut is set to arrive on July 7th, 2009. In the meantime, you can catch the hip-hop supergroup at this year's Rock the Bells tour.

2. Mos Def - "Quiet Dog"

Mos Def's latest album doesn't arrive until June 9th, but the Mighty Mos will reunite with his Black Star partner, Talib Kweli, for a one-time concert at the Nokia Theatre in NYC on Saturday night.

1. The Alchemist - "Smile" (Feat. Maxwell & Twista)

Alchemist - Smile© Koch
If you think "Smile" is great, wait till you hear what Alan "The Alchemist" Maman is cooking up on his new album, Chemical Warfare, due this summer. Alc reached out to Eminem for a collaboration that's being touted as the title track on the album. *Fingers crossed*
