Guide Review - Kanye West - "All of the Lights" (Ft. Rihanna, Tony Williams) (Def Jam)

Frenetic drums blare as Kanye casually pontificates about the fast life. His flow is uncharacteristically sluggish as if he's gasping for air against a sea of adversities. "She need her daddy/Baby please, can't let her grow up in that ghetto university." The song features G.O.O.D. Music artist Tony Williams, who also sang the hook on "We Major."

"All of the Lights" succeeds by failing at two things: It's neither bouncy enough to move behinds in the club nor preachy enough to risk a "pretentious" label. It comes off like a single without an agenda. Where it succeeds is in the production department. You can't help but push rewind again and again for another hit of that heavenly music we've come to expect from Mr. West.
