Guide Review - Freddie Gibbs - 'Str8 Killa EP' (Decon)
Ask any rapper to describe their style and words like "real" and "original" will get tossed around. Freddie Gibbs is the rare rapper who talks the talk and walks the walk. Or as he put it, "I spit that real reality rap." Imagine Ice Cube as a midwest G, but younger and hungrier. That's Freddie Gibbs.
His latest, Str8 Killa, is brimming with raw energy and stellar production. Highlights include the abrasive street hit "National Anthem (F--k the World)" and the hard-hitting "Oil Money" alongside Bun B, Chuck English, Chip tha Ripper and Dan Auerbach.
Gibbs' raw rhymes won't make him a chart-topping, Grammy-toting baller but it will grow to be revered over time.
Release Date: August 3, 2010
