The Grand Finale?

And finally, the grand finale, the one you've been waiting for: the highly anticipated collaboration with the legendary Elton John! Sorry to get your hopes up with that introduction, but needless to say, music listeners hoping to hear "Tiny Dancer" meet the hip-hop generation will be sorely disappointed. Sorely! "2 Man Show" finds a voiceless Elton John performing a melancholy composition as Timbo pathetically cheers on with silly lines like "c'mon Elton, break it down" and "two-man show, that is, me and Elton John." Nothing closes out an album worse than imagining Timbo dancing around with Elton John pom poms: and this coming from the man who chose to insult Scott Storch by calling him "just a piano man." Puh-lease!!!

The Bottom Line on Timbaland Presents Shock Value

Timbaland Presents Shock Value is an overall disappointing effort and essentially an assortment of tracks that'll go through one ear and out the other. Aside from a few noteworthy tracks here and there and some catchy hooks and lines, Shock Value isn't the type of album that can stand the test of time. The whole concept for the album was illogical from the get-go. At the end of the day, hip-hop fans will be alienated by Timbo's divergence from his forte, and rock fans will most likely be turned off by the quirky mish-mashing made out of their own genre of preference (if they even know that this album exists): ultimately, it's a lose-lose situation. Shocking? Yes. Of value? Not really.
