Drake and Tyga are embroiled in one of the most heated feuds of the young year. So how did it all begin? Who fired the first shot? What exactly are the two former labelmates beefing over? Pull up a chair, grab a cold beverage and a bag of Orville Redenbacher's.

Once upon a time not long ago…

It Was All Good Just a Week Ago (Or Was It?)

Tyga and Drake connected on Drizzy's 2011 rocket, "The Motto," which also starred their Young Money mentor Lil Wayne. "The Motto," which popularized the term Y.O.L.O., became a ubiquitous hit. It was certified 3x platinum for scanning three million copies. There was no visible sign of tension in the YMCMB crew.

Tyga Would Let Drake Drown?

The first hint of drama between Drake and Tyga came in 2013. During an interview with Big Boy of Power 106, Tyga was asked who he'd save if Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne were drowning. He retorted, "Why can't it be Nicki Minaj and Drake?" When the options changed to Nicki and Drake, he picked Nicki with ease. Presented with the option to save either Drake or Lil Wayne, Tyga hesitated before conceding that he'd "definitely" save Wayne. This prompted the obvious question from Big Boy. "Let me ask you this: What is your problem with Drake?" Tyga replied that he doesn't hate Drake. "I like his music," he coyly added.

Tyga Calls out YMCMB

On October 10, 2014, Tyga publicly aired out his frustrations with his label. "Gold album been done. my label holding me hostage so i can't release nothing. might just leak it for my fans then let them make $ off it," Tyga tweeted. When a fan asked Tyga if his was still signed to Young Money, he tweeted back: "not for long." He then added: "#LastKings is what i built and the only thing I rep."

Tyga Calls Drake "Fake" in VIBE

Tyga graced the digital cover of the October 2014 issue of VIBE. In the accompanying editorial, he shared stories about learning from Kanye West, his relationship with Blac Chyna (Tyga's ex/baby's mother) and his friendship with Kylie Jenner and the Kardashian clan. He also explained why he doesn't like Drake as a person.

Here's the VIBE exchange:

Is Young Money a part of the creative process on this album?
Nah. I tend to distance myself from them.
Are you trying to break out on your own?
Yeah, I’m tryna’ go independent. I don’t really get along with Drake. I don’t really get along with Nicki.
Why?
I don’t like Drake as a person. He’s just fake to me. I like his music; you know what I’m saying? I think his music is good, but we’re all different people. We were forced together and it was kinda’ like we were forcing relationships together. It is what it is. But I been friends with Chris [Brown] for like six years. That’s my real genuine friend. We hang out all the time. He lives up the street from me, so we don’t just do music we hang. I think being signed to Young Money, everybody felt like they had to force a relationship ‘cause Wayne put us together. At the end of the day the reason why I signed to Young Money is because of Wayne. Not because of Drake, not because of Nicki. It was because of Wayne and my relationship with him. I try to be cool with everybody, but sometimes, everybody just has different personalities, motives, and different characters. When you realize that, you realize that’s not a place where you want to continue to grow.

Drake "Likes" Blac Chyna

Drake responds to Tyga's VIBE remarks in a very Drake way -- by liking a bunch of Blac Chyna pictures on Instagram. Baller Alert captured the screenshot for posterity.

Tyga Fires a Subliminal Shot on "Make It Work"

Following the VIBE interview, Tyga tossed a thinly-veiled shot at Drake on a track called "Make It Work." He rapped: "Ni--a never was my homey/All these b---ches know you corny n--a."

Drake Instagrams Kylie Jenner

Drake uses Instagram as a retaliation weapon again, this time posting a photo with Kylie Jenner with the caption "@KylieJenner in the cut."

Drake Disses Tyga on "6 PM in New York"

On February 12, 2014, Drake dropped a surprise album/mixtape titled If Youre Reading This Its Too Late. It featured several lines aimed at rivals. On the closer, "6 PM in New York," Drake takes off the gloves and swings at Tyga.

Shots Fired: "I heard a little little homie talking reckless in VIBE/That's quite a platform you chose, you should've kept it inside/Oh, you tried/It's so childish calling my name on the world stage/You need to act your age and not your girl's age."

Tyga Addresses Kylie Jenner Relationship

Drake's suggestion that Tyga was dating a minor raised a few eyebrows on social media. Amber Rose got in the mix by dissing the Kardashians. Tyga was feeling the heat.

On February 16, Tyga finally addressed his relationship with Kylie Jenner on The Breakfast Club. "I'm not dating Kylie," he said. "I just want to get that out the way. I want to be clear with everybody that I didn't leave my family to be with Kylie. That's ridiculous. Me and Chyna, we broke up almost close to a year now. We decided to split to raise an emotionally stable kid. I didn't leave nobody to be with anybody. It just wasn't working."

He also reiterated his sentiment about Drake: "I just don't f-ck with him as a person because of the experiences that I've had with him personally. I'm not going against who he is as a person to the public or his music. Like I said, his music is great and it's undeniable. It's his moment."
