LL Cool J, Fat Joe and Raekwon Take Shots at Jay-Z
Rap rivalry is nothing new to Jay-Z, but everyone's been talking greasy about Hov lately. DMX, LL Cool J, Cam'ron, and Method Man have all spoken out against the Def Jam prezo. Now, Raekwon has joined the anti-Hov bandwagon. At the recent Rock The Bells concert in New York, Raekwon disclosed that he's not feeling Jay's top-selling new album, Kingdom Come. It started after Hot 97 DJ Kay Slay posed a question to the crowd, "How many of y'all are feeling that new Jigga album?" Raekwon then responded that he's not a fan of Kingdom Come, later adding: "I don't give a f*** about Hova." (Watch Raekwon's Video. Warning: Explicit content.")
Rae and Kay Slay are not alone in their newfound resentment for Jay-Z. LL Cool J also slammed his boss for failing to promote his latest album Todd Smith properly. When MTV News asked LL whether he planned on renewing his contract with Def Jam, the rapper replied: "How am I gonna re-sign with competition? I'm not an idiot. I can't depend on that man to promote my record while he's somewhere writing rhymes. I'm LL Cool J. I ain't doing that, B."
Fat Joe also called out the Jigga in a recent radio interview, saying that the self-ordained god MC has turned his back on the 'hood. (Listen to Fat Joe's interview).
Granted, Kingdom Come is not Jay-Z's best work, but which one of the stone-throwing rappers mentioned above has never released one or two mediocre albums? The man has two exceptional studio LPs, one brilliant live album, a busload of classic songs, and possibly the best flow in the game. Not to mention that he rivals 2pac for the 'most influential' title. If you can't respect that, maybe your perspective is whack.

“The man has two exceptional studio LPs, one brilliant live album, a busload of classic songs, and possibly the best flow in the game. Not to mention that he rivals 2pac for the ‘most influential’ title.”
None of the stone-throwing rappers in question ever denied any of these things that you use to defend Jigga. It seems to me that they are just saying that they don’t want to work for another rapper who may or may not be more interested in promoting his own stuff than in taking care of his “employees” or staying “hood,” no matter how accomplished he is…
Who Asked Fat Joe For An Opinion, Especially Against Hov.
Who here feels Fat Joe’s music? I don’t.
First off, the Jay-z’s new album is wack. Rap is about talking to the people and having them feel what is being said. No one can feel Jay-z it’s a big ego trip for him. His style is getting worse. And who the hell says he can be placed next to back in the run for ‘most influential title?’ Damn, your sources are wrong and what you think is wrong, no one comes close to Pac ESPECIALLY Jay. He’s done nothing for no one but himself. Think about that
“If you can’t respect that, maybe your perspective is whack.”
Nice, Rizoh…nice…
I dont feel kingdom come at all, jay should have stayed retired.
They speaking out against Kingdom Come not Jay-Z. Jay-z is a great rapper who made albums like Resonable Doubt, The Blueprint and in my Lifetime Vol. 1-3. They didnt expect a whack album thats why saying stuff
this CD is fire, the metaphors are still better than anyone in the game, it makes you think, you too dumb to understand it? Hottest album of the year
Kingdom Come is a good hip hop album. I think the whole thing is stupid. It sounds to me that the hip-hop community is mad because some real competition came back. And it really sounds like some highschool stuff. Grow up. for real. L.L. had two singles. Everybody knew about his album. It just wasn’t all that great. Maybe Meth’s album could have been promoted better. As hip-hop heads you would think they would understand the hunger an emcee has, but instead they sound like babies…and Raekwon sounds like he’s angry about something. I’m not sure what they hope to acomplish by the animosity towards Jay. From what I’ve seen, he’s used to it. This whole topic is getting old. He’s back. He still can flow sick. He can still sell records (650,000 first week), he can still sellout crowds and rock a show– Deal with it.
Is hip hop just suspose to constist of hard beats, swearing in every lines, party music for half naked girls to dance, and just talking and what goes on in the hood? NO,its free expression the game needs more grown ups.Jayz is a grown up(mature indivdual)which can give a broad perpective on life/music.Jay is only helping the game from going down ,haters need to grow up and make ablums worth this kind of discussion. Jayz ablum is refreshing pure expression, awareness, dare to be different, direction of longivity hiphop, and it doesn’t sound like the bull that u hear on radio/tv.#’s don’t lie.
as much as i don’t think much of ‘kingdom come’ and some of it’s wack lyrics like ‘’am the mike jordan of recording'’ and other wack words, i don’t think any of the rappers talking except LL cool J has anything to say, Jay may be wrong for caring more about himself than his employee’s but he has done alot for hip hop and demands more respect. am a bit disappointed in LL, cause he’s bigger than going out and dissing Jay. And there should never be a comparison between jay and pac, pac is and was way above what jay has to and will ever offer !
P.s- when does my man Nas drop his album, cant wait !
Fat Joe and Dic*set(exuse language) will never be able to match what Hov’s done in careers. Has Cam of Joe ever drop a classic like Reasonable Doubt. But there’s like 15 rappers that has beef with Jay now, hope Nas’ help out Hov.
Perhaps it’s a race thing.
All big execs should be white?
“I ain’t working for no N*****”. etc?
Is it possible for a race to discriminate against its own? Get a grip people ’cause it’s starting to look that way.
Go Jay!
If you listened to Kingdom Come and acted like it were some dude on the come up youd say it was a whack album, but since its Jay-z its automaticly the best thing out in a long time (which its not). Everybody tells me “listen to the lyrics, this dudes new album is street!” Show me what you got was the most pop song Ive heard from Jay-z…ever. And whats up with the guest artists, your the CEO of Def Jam and you couldnt get anyone better? I will continue to listen to the classics until he puts someting out worth listening to.
Everyone has a bad album under their belt. I just hope that there is not a fall out in the boardroom. Because you know who, did you know what, with you know who! Jay is still the KING!!!
HOVA…HOVA…HOVA..HOVA..HOVA…HOVA…
WELCOME BACK…SURE TO CLAIM MORE THAN FIVE MICS…HOVA…HOVA…HOVA…..
if jay gets 5 mic’s that means Dave Mays & that white guy, oops, I mean Benzino got their jobs back at the source.
I don’t particularly think Jay-Z’s Kingdom album is as bad as most are saying, but not nearly as good as expected. So far, for the fourth quarter of 2006, Snoop’s Blue Carpet album is the best by far.
lol Fat Joe talkin bout Jay-Z come on now when was the last time Fat Joe been hot? He just good for puttin out a hot single. DMX ok maybe in like 99 when u was the truth but ya last couple of albums been trash next. I like LL but u know todd smith was a trash album his last good album was G.O.A.T. Raekwon lol dont make me laugh u just jealous. Hmmm Ghostface album sold units and that album was fire. ludacris album sold units and it was fire. when ghostface drop again tomorrow it will sell, nas album will sell next week. notice that all the lame people haten on Jay cuz they not in the same spot he at. U don’t here luda sayin i dont wanna work for Jay. Kingdom Come is a good album Jay has reach the point where he dont have to keep maken the same songs. da man is a legend. if he dropped a new album i bet u haters be in line for it. prolly behind me
Why is everybody cry about someone who has come in and raised the bar. The man has consistantly put out a great product and shown that there are other levels to the game. Maybe some of the cry babys should get together and put their brains to good use on one decent not even great just good album an let the a–hole fifty-cent produce that since, his the hottest dude in hip hop since pac. Opps that’s right he’s so two years ago would that be right david? Say dave if I may say are you the one trying to dig up pac or are you just holding on to that space that you call a brain. let’s get serious for a miniute Jay-Z has over all put out great albums plus he is corporate savy and will not lose sight of the big picture making Def Jam the number onerecord label don’t you think? peace
I MEAN HE BENN OUT FOR A LONG LONG TIME N NOT ALOT OF RAPPER WAS OUT HERE LONGER DAM HE WAS SO WE SHOULD GIVE HIM DAT RESPCT!!N ALSO HE DO NEED 2 MACC UP IS MIDE WAT HE WONT SAY N THE SHOW BUSSNES OR JUST LIVE
i don’t get it. 50’s done. what’s LL thinking? yea back in ‘02-’03 50 really exploded on the scene. since then, he’s fallen back to mediocre status because he wasn’t consistent. he lost his hunger, got too comfortable and commercial, and didn’t come with the same level of concentration in his work as he did in “get rich”. as it’s already been expressed, why does LL consider jay-z competition and 50 cent not? because 50 doesn’t attract the audience jigga does. point blank. don’t call me a expert or nothing, but LL just wants to have a fighting chance in the rap game and this is his roundabout way of saying jay will always outperform him. if a heavyweight was consistently kickin ya ass in the ring, wouldn’t you wanna step into a different ring? that’s what LL’s doing. He doesn’t realize that it’s on him to re-establish himself. 50 can’t do it for him. plus… who in this forum would trust Curtis “50-cent” Jackson as a business partner? you might as well make a charitable donatation with all your money. it’s like rollin’ with don king as your promoter. it’s bad business. not knockin the homie LL. he’s been doing his thing for a minute. he’s just not on jigga’s level in regard to the overall magnetism and respect jay gets from rappers, press, fans, etc. I mean who’s concert would you rather go to?? Jigga’s or LL’s? i mean i won’t front on it.. maybe if my bird was comin with you’d catch me in line for LL tickets. but other than that it’s not even negotiable. if LL was really the truth, then he would’ve sold regardless of who was “hatin” on him. jigga’s been doing his thing. he could have no marketing plan and still pull big numbers. LL’s just gotta deal with that. it’s inevitable. kinda like jigga’s sh!t consistently selling over his.
Ask Lloyd Banks what happened to his last album. Good luck LL, I guess Luda, Nas, & Jeezy aren’t getting any promotion from DefJam either, not to mention Neyo & Rihanna. You can’t make a song with JLo and expect a hit, and REMEMBER after BET & MTV, you have to hit the radio stations and the clubs and hope you get calls on the talk show circuit. You’ll probably get some buzz because 50 gets buzz or if you want to take a shot at Hov like Camron to get some buzz. Takin off your shirt moves the girls not the units.
All yall who r hatin on hov r cornballs! Yall r hypebeast jus followin evry1 else who is doin it! Stop jockin him… the man is smart. Kingdom Come album is an album that u can let play without feelin dat u listenin to a whole bunch of shake ur a** b***h lines. Even the prelude is ridiculous… yall jus dnt understand anything other than that garbage…. lmao whoa baby!
Even the prelude is ridiculous… yall jus to dumb 2 understand mature lyrics…. the man is not 32 yrs old anymore lmao whoa baby!
you all are getting the whole situation twisted. These cats LL, Rae, Fat Joe and among others, are not beefing with Jay, they just expressing how they feel towards him as far as his album and him not promoting artist right. Everybody is entitled to their opinions but at the same time it doesnt mean that a person is automatically beefing just becuz they are exprssing something in a negative or oppose opinion, or statements. Some might see it as hating but it depends on how you look at it. Fat Joe he been dropping whack albums and not doing him like how he should be but if thats how he feel towards jay then i cant knocked him although at times i feel fat joe is corny and he has some nerves at times. thats all i have to say
Who the F*** wrote this? Jayz doesnt have the best flow in the game what are you dudes on crack? or on his dick? and to respond that neither have a mediocre album is just stupid. Reakwon has “only built for cuban linx” and Fat Joe has “Don Cartagena” to whom ever wrote this: your an idiot.
every1 knows jayz is the best, the point is that wheather jayz is wack or hot, he shoudn’t b doin more albums, i thought he said he retired? instead, he should be lookin after his companys assests, thats y so many ppl r turnin on him
Hello! Good Site! Thanks you! ldqkizsjipddin
Jay Z is messing up Defjam, take a good look at the newest albums, nowhere near as good as the ones Def Jam used to make, Jay is starting to become like puff daddy in that regards. Now if 50 can make LL’s new album hot, that will prove the point
and…lol, fat joe…ha ha, I have never liked one of his songs
What are you smoking? Jay-Z should never be compared to 2Pac. Hell not even Nas. I don’t even think he’s better than DMX
jay z has never been a great mc that has really made people think about his rhymes he makes good party songs (big pimpin) but he cant be put on the level of 2pac, nas, krs1, run dmc, but he is still a good raper that knows how to mkae $$$$$4
Hold Up! Jay-z rivals 2pac for the ‘most influential’ title?!? Give me a break! Ask any rapper and they will tell you that Pac has had a much bigger influence on them as apposed to Jay-z.Jay-z has great rhymes and great flow to go with it but Jay is more of a business man rather than a true musical artist. Oh and by the way LL cool J has been making hit records since Hov was running around N.Y. so i think LL know what he is talking about.
LL not jealous he just sayin it like it is, now back then they wanted Ll Cool J to slow down a bit but you cats did not listen to the man’s whole cd. zHis lyrics are very up to par cause half the cats dont know know how high his dictionary level is on the rap game. You fools ever heard of Put your hands up?? No most of you did not well Jay Z was suppose to do that but they gave it to LL, hey how about the track on LL’s the goat cd called ill bomb well dj kay slay chose ll for that too. Hey Ll battled 20 mc’s in new york in 92 and i was there and he smoked them all including Jay Z and Jaz o and Jay z played his boy dame jaz and others. he aint right and ll is gonna be back. So when yall say all he do is women songs: NO!! He mixed up all of his cd’s he just have most of the love rap come out on radio play. When he snap dont say “AW man what is goin on”! Yall complain and now he gonna give it to ya, aith! LISTEN to LL stuff. EXIT 13:the icon versus the wolfpack
read the by line “Image © Roc-a-Fella” this comes from his camp so it’s going to make that nig*** shine fcuk him and that over rated hoe he be with. Done
With the exception of maybe Raekwon, none of these other guy are f**kin’ with Hov, they just trying to save their careers.
Gay z is not beter thn dmx andddd ll c j got first song dmx started ll c j is best
Gay z is not beter thn dmx andddd ll c j got first song dmx started ll c j is best oh an tupac said ll c j big d kand his daddy f k gay z
Jay-Z is not only a rap artist, he’s a trend setter and a business man. A lot of these lil rappers follow his style and don’t even realize it. Whoever thinks Dmx is hotter than Jay-Z just -started listening to hip-hop 10 years ago. Anyone who write lyrics know that Jay-Z was more talented on the mic then some X. Also, Pac was a hot MC but his problem, just like Nas, is that their too serious in their music. Music is suppose to sound enjoyable to the ears, make you wanna dance type music. I don’t wanna hear a CD with 90% serious music. This is why Jay out sold all these cats. Put on Jay-Z “In my Lifetime Vol.1″ and analyze the syle and flow. Fat Joe, Mase, Fab, Lil Wayne, Jeezy, and several more mimick that style Jay-Z had. If you haven’t noticed in the last 2-3 albums from Jay, he switched up the flow just to separate him from the rest.
The Blueprint was a stolen title from The King of Hip Hop, KRS ONE
Jay-Z knows KC was weak, All artist fall short sometime. But you can’t just sit LL on the shelf, he’s a beast. And please don’t get LL started. he would kill Jay in a Battle…PEOPLE JAY IS NOT THE GOD OF RAP, NEITHER IS PAC… PEOPLE NEED TO GROW UP. STOP COMPARING IT SALE AND LOOK AT HOW A MC HELPS HIS COMMUNITY. PAC HAD ONE SONG THAT WAS POSITIVE, BRENDAS GOTTA BAY, THAT’S IT WAS THEN HE WAS LIKE ” I GET AROUND” PAC AND JAY ARE ONLY SAME WHEN IT COMES TO BEING SELFISH AND ONLY OUT FOR SELF. SO COMPARE THAT. REAL EMCEES ARE CATS LIKE BLACK THOUGH,NAS,TALIB, MOSDEF,COMMON,MONCH,SHIA LINN,LITTLE BROTHER,TRIBE CALLED QUEST,DELASOUL,BLACK SHEEP,GANG STARR,HEAVY-D,SALTNPEPPA,MC LYTE,BIG DADDY KANE, aorry but jay is a buster, OH ALMOST FORGOT BUSTA BUS…HECK EVEN MOBB DEEP.. SOME of these cats are truely negative but the majority are positive. AND ANY CAN GO TOE TO TOE IN THE BOOTH WITH Z. SO GROW UP… HECK I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT KANYE AND RAKIM, AND RUN DMC… WAKE UP, WAAAAKE UUUUUP! “SLEEPSER, RAPPER BIG POOH…. HOT STUFF…
fat joe, rakekwon and ll has some legitmate gripes about jay z. hova is one of the greatest of all time but if he’s turning his back on the hood and stifling people work then that needs to be addressed. remember, he crapped on damon dash with roca-fella. i like jay z but you have to call a spade a spade, and hova hates and make mistakes like everybody else. don’t forget his other beef with nas till them two buried the hatchet.
