Lord Jamar: Kanye's Skirt Has No Place in Hip-Hop

By February 2, 2013

Follow me on:

Kanye West's fashion has been in the conversation so much lately I'm starting to forget what he actually does for a living. In the past few weeks alone, West has made headlines for his crystal mask, home-made ski mask, extra-white Balenciagas, etcetera. Hedonned a straitjacket for a performance in Abu Dhabi yesterday. But it's a different Kanye staple that's keeping Lord Jamar up at night: the kilt. Jamar says Ye's signature kilt has no place in hip-hop. It obviously challenges hip-hop's hyper masculinity ethos. Lord Jamar, an old-fashioned guy, sees that as a negative.

Update: Lord Jamar has now released a homophobic diss track titled "Lift Up Your Skirt"
