Trinidad James on Spike Lee, the N-word, and Drugs

By January 8, 2013

Follow me on:

The N-bomb is back in the conversation, especially with the controversy surrounding Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. As you may or may not know, Spike Lee is boycotting the movie. DJ Whoo Kid mentioned this to hip-hop's "it" guy Trinidad James, which he saw a cue to weigh in on the N-word debate. "I would like him [Spike Lee] to at least have a conversation with me personally," said James. "Meet me and see the type of person that I am, because I got the utmost respect for him."

"We're supposed to try and help each other as black people. I don't know him, so I wouldn't do nothing to offend him; but if he heard my song, and then boycotted me...that'd be kinda crazy. But like I said, I hope he'd talk to me first before something crazy like that happened. Because it would make no sense."

James also touched on some other topics, including his fascination with gold, the first time he popped a Molly, the perception of his music versus his reality, and more. Check out the interview below.
