Just when Nas was starting to affirm that Life Is Good, here comes the tax man trying to throw him off balance. TMZ is reporting that the State of Georgia is in the process of garnishing about $1 million of Nas' earnings to satisfy his million-dollar tax debt for the four years he reportedly owes (2006 through 2010).
Nas has been touring his legs off, probably in a bid to make up for lost wages. The more he makes the harder Uncle Sam breathes down his neck. Interestingly, his tour mate is Lauryn Hill, who has well-publicized tax problems of her own. (Shameless plug: I saw the pair last month and wrote about it here.)
Nas can't seem to escape his money woes. He lost one of his homes a couple weeks ago. Now the Georgia Department of Revenue has filed a lien against his income, forcing concert promo company Live Nation to withhold Nas' revenues until the $1,083, 435 debt is satisfied. Nas' reps tell TMZ the issue is already settled, but the IRS ain't budging. Life is cruel.
