Jay-Z is planking on more than a million. Forbes has released its annual list of richest rappers, dubbed the "Forbes Five" (not to be confused with the more comprehensive "Hip-Hop Cash Kings"), and it consists of Diddy, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Birdman, and 50 Cent in that order. The 2012 rankings are the same as last year, but Jay topped 2011's "Cash Kings" list. Collectively, the group reeled in over $95 million.

I don’t understand how Birdman is so rich? I get that he has his own shoe, sells albums, and is a CEO. But surely that’s not enough to surpass someone like 50 Cent in wealth? Am I missing something here?
Dan, don’t forget that Cash Money has a lucrative distribution deal with UMG. I hear it’s worth over $30 million. Pretty sure Baby makes a tidy sum from the label, especially with Nicki, Wayne and Drake albums selling like hotcakes.
Let’s not forget Cash Money is the group that stole the spot from No Limit. Once you remember that then you can think of how long they have been in the top five and most of the time top three movements to listen and like….. From 98 to now says a lot…. Hint people really only know Jay Z music since 98- ….
