I never understood why people went cuckoo for Childish Gambino's 2010 album, Culdesac. It was enjoyable in parts, but it played like a loose collection of songs. To use a medium familiar to Donald Glover fans, it was akin to constructing a TV show around a season of nothing but pilots. By contrast, Camp is all plots and narratives. There's a central theme and the ideas are meatier. That's a good thing. And Camp is a very good album. Here's my $.02 on Childish Gambino's Glassnote debut, Camp.

Donald Glover is one of the most talented people in America. His acting is great. His stand up is hilarious. Oh yeah, and he’s a really, really good rapper. Great album.
Solid album, I wasn’t really sold on him previously but Camp made me realize he has a lot of talent (pretty much at anything he does) and I look forward to future releases.
What were your favorite songs on it, Henry?
that power – :O not even really a song but so good!
A great review, one of your best tbh!
Now I have to check this out, I’ve hesitated for a long while.
When Donald Glover burst onto the scene, the talent factor in the world went up like 20-fold. I’m consistently impressed with everything he does, on screen, off screen, in front of the mic, etc. I just grabbed a copy of “Camp” for $7.99. http://on.fb.me/sGFEjP THANK YOU, best buy.
Dont see the appeal to this guy. Just another whining rapper who has nothing interesting to say. The beats aren’t great either, and technically speaking, there are better emcees to hear than this guy.
I’m still gonna give it 2-3 more spins to see how it grows, but I’m not excited.
I don’t think I enjoyed it as much as you guys. There were good moments, but I found a lot of corny lines would ruin tracks for me. The production wasn’t amazing either.
