"The Greatest Rapper of All-Time Died on March 9th"

By March 9, 2010

Follow me on:

A mere six months after Tupac Shakur was gunned down in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting, Brooklyn's own Notorious B.I.G. was slain in a drive-by shooting outside VIBE magazine's Soul Train Awards afterparty. Biggie (real name Christopher Wallace) was sitting in his Chevrolet Suburban at a traffic light on Wilshire Blvd. when an unidentified vehicle pulled alongside the passenger side of Chevy and opened fire out of its driver-side window. He was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Like 'Pac, many have called Biggie the greatest MC of all time. And that's off just one album released while he was still breathing. Biggie is undoubtedly one of the greatest MCs of all time. Who knows, he might have gone to become the greatest had he survived that shooting on March 9, 1997

I hate it when people say Bigs the best. He only released two albums(that he approved.) I agree with you though, he couldve become the best.

If we reminisce over Biggie on the date he died, why there wasn’t an article for Big L?

Biggie had the best rhymes ever, but he didn’t have enough albums to be the greatest. He left too soon to hold the title

I think biggie dropped enough material while he was alive. He dropped Ready to Die and of course, Life After Death right after his death.

People forget that Life After Death is one of the few double albums to have quality all the way through, without the use of filler tracks. In essence, I think this should count at two albums.

So to be fair, Big put out three quality albums before his death, not to mention numerous guest appearances and mixtapes. I think that’s enough to garner him a spot up there in the book of greats.
