Album Review: Wale's Attention Deficit

Thursday November 12, 2009

Wale - Attention Deficit

In just three years, Wale went from virtual unknown to hip-hop eminence. He's dropped three notable mixtapes, four singles, and a gazillion shoe references in that time. 2008's A Mixtape About Nothing was impressive. Still, I wondered how much of that lyrical jewel would end up on the only thing that will matter years from now, his debut album. The wait is over. Here's the verdict on Wale's Attention Deficit.

I think its not bad of an album, but it is a dissapointement, since i was expecting a standout “album-of-the-year” since im a big fan of wale, but i can face the music, and admit that i probly wont be bangin this album a year from now, in my opinion best songs are : triumph, prescription, beutiful bliss and diary

(5) Sleepy Wonder says:

Kid Cudi Was A Major Disappointment. I Was Hoping Wale Would Deliver Something Exciting But After Listening To The Album For About A Week, I Had To Pass On It. Charles Hamilton’s “This Perfect Life” Leaked A Month Or Two Ago And I Deleted It After A Few Listens. Don’t Get Me Started On Asher Roth. Most Of These ‘09 Freshmen Are Failing To Impress Me. It’s Probably The Reason XXL Didn’t Do Another 10 For Their Dec/Jan Issue.

^^^ I didn’t think Kid Cudi was a disappointment.

^^^yeah, a perfect life wasn’t good at all, but go on datpiff.com and look at the 10 mixtapes that charles hamilton has. every single tape has diffrent tracks, and every single track is genius. a perfect life was one bad cd out of 11. i’ll take that any day.

(9) Sleepy Wonder says:

@ Cool E: I’ve Heard The Mixtapes. “Pink Lavalamp” & “Isn’t This Awkward” Are Really Good. Which Is Why I Was Expecting More From His Debut Album, But It Ended Up Sounding Like A Really Wack Mixtape. Maybe Round 2, We’ll See.

@Wagga: I Know I Don’t But Then Again I Kinda Do, I Have OCD. So Yea…

Hey everyone I got the new Rakim album. I don’t know why but my local record store was selling it early? Has anyone else seen this or is this not supposed to happen because it’s still for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes.

November 14, 2009 at 6:13 am
(12) Sleepy Wonder says:

Well Most Stores Get The CD’s Like A Week Before The Actual Release Date I Believe, So They Probably Just Decided To Sell Them Early. The Record Shop By My House Does It All The Time. I’m Assuming You Didn’t Buy It At Target Or Best Buy, Am I Right?

(13) Thomas says:

The album is dope. He is making the same music as the mixtapes. He is on a major label and some of the guest were probably forced upon him, however, they work IMO.

I don’t think he’s changed….I think fans perception of him has.

This joint has been playing non-stop since I came out of Best Buy with it on Tuesday.

(14) Patrick L says:

@Sleepy Wonder Yeah i got it at an independent record store in my area. it was more expensive but like four days early.

(18) bricksitty says:

You gotta be kidding me. This album is fire. Who else has come out with an album that is sonically good, attacks so many issues, and puts a new area on the map?! you dudes are just so conditioned to mixtapes you forgot what a solid album is supposed to sound like

November 16, 2009 at 5:41 pm
(19) Henry says:

J Cole is a beast. I’m only concerned about his capacity to sustain his enthusiasm until 2020 which is probably when he’ll be allowed to release an album.

November 23, 2009 at 12:30 pm
(20) beezy says:
