K'Naan and J. Period - The Messengers 3: Bob Dylan

Thursday September 17, 2009

j period and knaanK'Naan has spent the past couple months doing something few rappers ever do. He's been extolling the virtues of other artists. The Somali-Canadian MC joined forces with DJ/producer J Period to honor three of the greatest musicians of all time: Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, and Bob Dylan.

After touring South Africa and Canada, J Period & K'Naan took some time to unleash the third installment of The Messengers EP series. The third installation of The Messengers pays homage to the legendary Bob Dylan.

I've been playing it repeatedly all evening. Download the EP below and let me know what you think.

(2) Sleepy Wonder says:

I Don’t Think He Would Have Posted This If It Was Crap, But Then Again He Did Post A Link To Young Joc, Ja Rule And 50 Cent’s New Material.

Nah, But On The Real I Mess With K’naan. Check Out Troubadour If You’re Into Underground Hip Hop. If You’re Into Mainstream Hip-Pop, Then I Don’t Know But It’s Never Too Late To Convert Or Hey, Get To Know Both Sides Of The Game.

Sorry Henry, i have to point out to you that Bob Dylan is actually still alive. You referred to him in your post as “the late great Bob Dylan”…he’s still a legend though, just a living one!

(5) Etchisit says:

Well worth the listen. My girlfriend is a huge Bob Dylan fan. I looking forward to hearing what she thinks of this, considering shes not the biggest rap fan. This is something that expands the genres of rap and folk/rock music. Not tarnishing either genre, adding to it. Im a fan!

(6) Etchisit says:

Well worth your time. This is quality stuff that expands and adds to both genres. What a compliment to two genres with the same goal. EP’s like this change people’s perspective on music, history and struggles we all share sometimes.
