Blueprint III Makes Early Debut on the Web

Monday August 31, 2009

Blueprint 3

One of the year's most anticipated hip-hop albums, The Blueprint 3, has leaked on the web, well over a week ahead of its September 11 release. While music fans are clamoring for the unauthorized album, Jay-Z has taken steps to leak the album himself. MTV and Rhapsody will stream Blueprint III in its entirety on their respective sites starting Tuesday, September 1st.

Rhapsody will also make a deluxe version of the album available for purchase on September 8, 3 days before Blueprint III officially makes its storewide debut. The deluxe album includes two bonus tracks not available on the retail version.

Have you heard the album? If so, how would you rate it?

Empire State of Mind, Thank You and What We Talkin’ Bout and the two singles are great, others are average/boring in my opinion.

This makes me mad. These days tracks keep getting leaked on the internet and it kind of spoils the whole new album experience.

I think it’s hot. 7.5 or 8/10 overall. A couple tracks are weak, like Run This Town and On to the Next One, and there’s a few more that aren’t anythin special. I like it a lot more than I thought I would.
Best tracks: Empire State of Mind, D.O.A., Star is Born, Venus vs. Mars (am I the only one who likes that song?) & Thank You.

@John: No you’re not, I like “Venus vs. Mars” too. The wordplay on that song is crazy.

Empire State Of Mind is so ill, still doesn’t make up for the subpar album though. Ugh, I miss early Hov when his albums were cover to cover filthy.

Also @ comment #2… IMO, leaks are the best thing to happen to music because as a consumer you no longer get ripped off for paying for a whack album. If it sucks, you delete it. If it’s tight, you support the artist and buy it. If you only like a couple tracks, you get them on iTunes. I hate how the consumer is never protected from wasting money on frisbees.

I’m not listening to anything off this album until it comes out 9/11, but you should check out this sick ad for the album, jay-z recreates all his album covers, best commercial i’ve seen in a while.

@Roman – I agree that it is nice to hear what you are buying before you buy it, but I don’t think most people then go out and purchase the albums or songs that they like as you do. Personally, I hate how the artist is never protected from people who illegally download their music and never pay them a dime for something that is their property.
