The Roots Debut New Single on Jimmy Fallon
The Roots will debut "How I Got Over," the lead cut from their similarly titled new album on Wednesday's edition of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, according to reports from Billboard.com. The Philly rap ensembled signed on as Jimmy Fallon's house band in March.
"How I Got Over" is being touted as a slice of the Roots' socially conscious hip-hop, as Black Thought raps, "Livin' with the police right behind ya / It's always more than a slight reminder / we're livin' in a war zone like Rwanda."
How I Got Over the album, is slated for release on October 20, via Def Jam. Tentative track titles include: "Walk Alone," "Make a Move," "The Day," which features Icelandic vocalist Patty Crash and a cover of Frank Zappa's instrumental classic "Peaches en Regalia."
