50 Cent Returns with New Street Album, War Angel

Tuesday June 16, 2009

50 Cent is back with a new mixtape, War Angel, set for release tonight on his website, thisis50.com. However, the G-Unit General insists that War Angel cannot be accurately classified as a mixtape.

In an interview with MTV, Fif explained:
“Creatively, this is not even a mixtape. That’s why I put LP next to it. My core audience will understand it immediately, and it’s written specifically for that.”
Asked about the meaning behind the title, 50 decides to get philosophical:
"You know what it is, it’s a conflict. The exact opposite. I didn’t want to write Angel Demon. You know what I mean. It’s not the contrast between good and bad. But I think the content, the overall content on the actual project is something like.. if someone’s at war, I’m sure they’re saying their prayers. They believe they have angels around them. What would you call an angel around a soldier at war? That’s why I titled it that,”
War Angel arrives tonight at 11 p.m. ET.

If it’s not good then I’m not buying his new album. Oh yeah and he was supposed to retire because he said that if Kanyes album beat his then he would. And “Graduation” destroyed “Curtis”. So i think his upcoming album will decide if 50 Cent can still rap. If it’s terrible he will lose all respect.

Agree with me Henry?

I haven’t liked anything 50 has put out since GRODT, but I gave this a listen and I was more impressed than I thought I’d be. There was only 2 or 3 songs I really thought were that bad, it’s obviously aimed at those who specifically want to hear gangsta rap, and he seems to be putting more effort and enthusiasm into this than he has with his other projects. It’s not great or anything, but I’d rather listen to War Angel than Curtis.

I liked it as far as mixtapes go but as smart a man that 50 is, I don’t understand how he can continue to release this garbage and continue thinking that it will be well received. Don’t get me wrong I think there were a few decent tracks on here. I think he’s on the right track and if he plans to release another studio album he should use this as a building block, release something with solid production and replay value.

^^ STOP YELLING AT US! :P

I don’t know…I gotta admit I’m a little curious, but I’ll probably pass on checking it out. I was never that big on 50 and over the years he’s been on a steady decline. “Curtis” was SO bad that I almost couldn’t believe it.
