"New Wu" Sounds Just Like Old Wu

Friday June 12, 2009
Raekwon has just released a second video for "New Wu." Yes, "New Wu" is the actual song title. The track, which is taken from Rae's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, is reminiscent of Wu-Tang's old sound, replete with heavy drums and a dusty soul sample. Ghostface Killah and Method Man stop by for some guest verses (though Ghost is literally invisible in the video). Rae's planning to drop his second dose of criminology, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, sometime in August. Check out the video and let me know what you think. Photo © Scott Gries/Getty Images

Yeah, this song is ill. All the new Raekwon songs I’ve heard have been really good. I really have high hopes for this album.

i couldn’t believe it when that sample started rolling. meth sounded fresher than i’ve heard him in long time. I think it had somethin to do with the track sound. it’s not clean, it’s grimy like 94 NYC

Liked it, but was kinda weird how Ghostface wasn’t there.
