Eminem's Relapse Debuts at No.1
It wasn't quite Tha Carter III numbers, but Eminem's Relapse made an impressive showing nonetheless. It debuted at No.1 with 608,000 units sold in its first week. According to Billboard.com, it's the best debut since AC/DC's Black Ice docked at the top with 784,000 copies in October 2008.
Relapse also marks Em's 5th consecutive No. 1 debut. All his albums have debuted at the top, except The Slim Shady LP, which bowed at No. 2 in 1999. His last solo LP, 2004's Encore, arrived with 711,000 despite being released four days earlier than scheduled in order to curb leaks.
Eminem wasn't the only hip-hop artist in the Top 10. Blackout! 2, the latest from Method Man and Redman, arrived at No.4 with 63,000 units. Busta Rhymes' Back On My B.S. entered the chart at No. 6 with 59,000.
