Are You Looking Forward to Lil Wayne's Rock Album?
In case you're wondering how Lil Wayne is going to top the best selling album of 2008, wonder no more. Weezy has decided to radically alter his catalog on his next outing. The Cash Money rapper has been hard at a rock album, according to Gigwise.com. Canadian hip-hop artist Drake, who appears on the new album, confirmed that Wayne was influenced by Kanye's own pop experimentation, 808s & Heartbreak. "It’s something different in just that whole '808s and Heartbreak', just throwing individuals off," Drake said. What do you think about Wayne's new creative direction?
Speaking of Weezy, he has two new tracks, "Red Rum" and "Yes," circulating on the web in preparation for his next album. "Red Rum" is an Auto-Tuned groove produced by Cool 'N Dre, while the latter is a drum-powered track with a guest verse from Pharrell.

I thought Wayne hit the wall lyrically on Carter III. I can’t think of the things he would do differently if he did a new rap album. So I don’t really mind.
Yea I think Wayne is at his peak lyrically and I think Lyrically he is falling off just alot stupid metaphors so its gonna be interesting to see what his next rap album sound like cause maybe the fame makes him think he can do no wrong
Personally I always love it when “artists” actually act like artists, push themselves to new levels, experiment with various genres and mix it up, push the boundaries of popular music.
So what about this Lil Wayne rock album? I’m guessing it’s going to be him rapping to rock type beats and maybe more emotion than normal. But I doubt it’s really a rock album in the traditional sense, just like 808s and Heartbreak wasn’t really a rap or R&B album, but rather a blend.
Then again, Lil Wayne says he’s going to do so many projects it’s kinda hard to believe him. Here’s a list of Lil Wayne projects suppose to come out soon…
“Tha Carter III: The RebIIIrth”
“Tha Carter IV”
“Tha Carter V” (yes, he’s already mentioned a 5th, apparently on ESPN Radio)
“I Can’t Feel My Face” – Collabo with Juelz Santana
“Luv Sawngz” – R&B Album
“He Rap, He Sing” – T-Wayne album
“Best of Young Worlds” – Collabo with Lloyd (i think this has dropped off the rumor mill though)
“Dedication 4″
And who knows how many mixtapes he’ll put out, lol.
Honestly? I just wish he’d sit his lil ass down somewhere and re-evaluate his life, because his tragedy of a personal life is spilling over into his music.
This “rock” thing he’s talking about is doomed for failure, IMO, because his mind just isn’t right at this point in time.
It’s going to be the same result as Kanye’s 808’s – which took a left because he didn’t get himself together BEFORE he decided to create an album.
Money and fame aren’t everything.
Weezy’s gone the way of Kanye, that’s just sad.
wayne sucks. period.
Lmao. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ People are evil….
I agree, Its definitely a giant leap…but think about the Gap between The Carter II and The Carter III. Wayne USED to be on top of things lyrically…before he rhymed every simple metaphor possible under the sun.
Now it might seem that he’s on top as far as sales and stuff goes, but in Reality his lyrical game is getting repetitive…So he’s dug himself a grave. He’s got two options: Quit now with all his money or switch things up to reconnect with his creative energy. Be that rock/rap or just that whole “Party like a rockstar” wannabe crap, Variety’s not gonna hurt anybody…Nobody but Wayne. lol.
I actually think this could be a great thing for lil wayne…I’m expecting something like run dmc an aerosmith or like linkin park and jay-z or even like gym class heroes wit dat whole rap rock mix …it could b hot if he pulls it off ..I think its great dat he’s trying new things and tryna expand his audience..
“Are You Looking Forward to Lil Wayne’s Rock Album?”
Let me answer that question like one of Lil Wayne’s newest songs:
Yes.
@realtalk
“I’m expecting something like run dmc an aerosmith”
Then you’re expecting too much. Run DMC can always be imitated, but NEVER duplicated. Back to hip-hop 101 you go.
@RedBeanzNRice
Wen I say sumthing like Run DMC n Aerosmith I mean the way the track Walk THis Way was done wit a mix of both rap n rock, I mean I dnt expect lil wayne 2 actually do a whole rock albume dats y when I said RUN DMC and aerosmith or jay-z n linkin park or even gym class heroes I just mean the style in how da songs were produce with a rock beat but dem rapping over it or wit a couple of rock samples as their chores …
@realtalk
Well thank you kind sir, (or ma’am) for clarifying.
wanye n drake are the best rappers alive!!!
(Really? – Henry)

“Personally I always love it when “artists” actually act like artists, push themselves to new levels, experiment with various genres and mix it up, push the boundaries of popular music.”
I 120% agree with this statement.
why didnt anyone make a big deal when david banner mixed it up with rock?
Wow! i think this is awesome! i love when artist switch it up a little rock artist do it all the time by covering rap songs (check out the punk goes crunk compilation) I cant wait for lil wayne’s album to come out. i will be the first one in line
Geeeez-us! Wayne sucks enough as a rapper and he’s just going to suck even more in rock. He can’t sing so how is he possibly going to do anything other than f***ing rap. Damn, rappers are stupider than I gave them credit for.
I think now IS an ‘alright’ time to throw this new stuff out. Only because his stuff was such a hit last year, and he remix’s pretty much everything, he’s got tons of fans. So even if this totally bombs, he won’t loose all his game, and he’ll still bounce right back with something to get him back to the top.
And, to the person above me, that was so close-minded. You can’t criticize until you appreciate all music.
I’m a fan of all types of music, so I’m excited to hear what “The Rebirth” will sound like. Lil Wayne kills it when he raps he spits straight fire son. I’m sure he’ll tear it up on the rock album too.
After hearing rap fans say so many bad things about rock music (and for what reason???) I am looking forward to hear what they will say now. I hope Lil Wayne gives them all a schooling in music.
I love the new way he going wit it. I think PROM QUEEN is HOTT!!!!
lol lil wayne sucks
stupid fanboys
If he adds some solos and heavier riffs into the album I’ll be happy and maybe listen to it.
i love you [Weezy F. Baby]
no matter what you do, you’re the best !
good luck !
SEXY ! (:

Just because lil wayne is “the greatest rapper
alive” does not mean he can do rock. I heard prom queen and its AWFUL. You need a good singing voice (which he does not have) to be successful at rock (unless you can scream and I’d hate to see lil wayne try to scream). Don’t get me wrong it’s always good for musicians to experiment but maybe he shouldn’t release every piece of sh*t song he can come up with. If he really wants to do rock he should work on it for a while…having listened to the music and seen a picture of him trying to hold a guitar he obviously hasn’t put much effort towards the whole rock thing. Maybe he should get his head out of his a*s and realize that fame and money and being “gangsta” does not make you a good musician. I am prepared to hear his new “rock” songs infecting the radio and all the poser “gangsta” kids thinking they are now “rock star gangstas” just because lil wayne is popular. Thank you lil wayne!
Did anyone else see this coming a mile away? I mean seriously, i could tell that he was starting to move into rock when lollipop came out, skinny jeans and a guitar.
lil wayne is not hip hop,
not the best rapper alive, and sucks at all aspects of music….
underground is coming up you people need to get a grip with what hip hop is….and his “rock” album is NOT rock its just a fag with a synthesizer voice like alllllll of the other popular rappers which i might add suck just as bad as him……
check out apathy, army of the pharoes, dzk, la coka nostra, cryptic wisdom, red cafe, celph titled and many many more that are far more talented and can actually rap…..then come back here and then write some real comments….
As someone said Lil Wayne is born for hiphop only!!
