10 Hip-Hop Artists to Watch in 2009

If you think of today's hip-hop as akin to California wildfires, the woods are no drier than they were 10 years ago. It's just that more people now have matches. With so many aspiring rappers stepping up to the mic, finding the cream of the crop can be exhaustive. Though every year ushers in a bevy of so-called future rap stars, only a handful of them manage to make it to their first album (hi, Saigon). That said, I've cut through the noise to bring you a countdown of 10 hip-hop artists to watch in 2009.

I’ll definitely be looking out for Cudi, B.O.B., Charles Hamilton, and Jay Electronica, but I think Asher Roth should’ve been on the list just because of the hype around him, and Joe Budden too who should blow up.

How about Saigon. This could be the year.
I think Saigon’s been on the list for years, lol. Can’t just keep putting him up there and getting disappointed. It’s likely this is the year since he’s finally out of the contract with Atlantic. Hopefully he puts out the album, and supposedly he’s already almost done with the second one, probably take till 2015 to get it though.
