The Roots Survive Bus Crash, ?uestlove Blogs from Ambulance

Friday November 21, 2008

"We are sooo alive right now" wrote ?uestlove as members of the legendary Roots crew escaped a deadly bus crash in Paris. The Roots were involved in a tour bus crash en route to the French capital Wednesday night on their way to a play a gig with Kanye West. Fortunately, they escaped tentacles of death and walked out of the accident with minor injuries.

Roots drummer Ahmir '?uestlove' Thompson described the incidence as it happened: "In reality the crash was all of about 7 seconds....but to do a 360 on the highway and end up ramped up (the van that crashed into ours was UNDER our double decker bus) in the air....is....well... a frigging miracle." He later added, "the only way i can describe it is that scene in back to the future when doc is in the clock tower and had mere seconds to connect a broken plug that will power marty mcfly's car with 1.8 jiggawatts of lightening power." Head over to ?uesto's Okayplayer blog for his complete narrative on the incident.

i was in a 360 crash on the highway and walked out with minor injuries as well. I agree with ?uestlove..it’s about 7 seconds in reality but i can remember each and every scene as the car flipped and it felt like about 30 minutes..slow mo for real. Glad their alive though and not hurt. We cant afford having any more wonderful musicians gone.
