Will Soulja Boy Go Platinum in a Week?

Tuesday November 18, 2008
Soulja Boy has launched a Platinum in a Week campaign on YouTube, as he saddles up for his 2nd go-round iSouljaBoyTellem, out December 16th, 2008. Soulja Boy emerged from obscurity to become one of the most buzzed about rappers today, thanks to notorious hits like "Crank That" and "Yahhh!" The teen rap sensation is now hoping to turn his web popularity into a platinum plaque come December.

In a recent YouTube clip, Soulja Boy strongly urges fans to support his upcoming sophomore CD. Why? Well, for starters he has a Gucci-branded trash can (as you can see from the video) and those things don't come cheap.

Well, what do you think about Soulja Boy's Platinum in a Week Campaign? Will he sell 1 million albums in one week or will i flop harder than a Ron Artest rap album?

Soulja Boy is not going to sell 1,000,000 in one week.

‘Bird Walk’ wasn’t even good.

Soulja Boy = everything that is WRONG with hip hop and the music business as a whole. Its kids like this and the labels, sponsors, distributors, media etc that support “artists” with the caliber of talent as a Soulja Boy that inspire artists like Nas to declare that hip hop is dead.

(4) Mighty Mos Def says:

I doubt that he will sell a million in a week. Firstly cuz hes a ringtone rapper, people who support soulja dont even by his records. In my opinion soulja boy has nothing to do with hiphop so dont be mad going around saying soulja boy killed hiphop.

And I just wanted to say that I personally caint wait for The Ecstatic and LupE.N.D . Just bought Q-tip’s Renaissance and im glad theres some hope left in hiphop =)

(9) Mr. SR says:

I agree with Mos sayin Soulja Boy has nuthn 2 do with HIP HOP. Hip Hop is a culture not a joke. Soulja Boy is a big joke, matter fact, a clown. Join the circus. 4 those who listens 2em, get educated and go get The Renaissance or wait 4 LupEND or sumthn and drop da ignorance.

(11) John Spliff says:

As much as i dislike Souljah Boi’s music… plat in a week is very possible but not without one key factor…. a hit single. He’s yet to produce one that’ll make half the globe catch that feeling of doing the superman like he did on his previous outing. Everything is in place, hes advertising correctly… all he needs is that final key.

Will Soulja Boy go platinum in a week? Let me answer that… no.

I hope he doesn’t even have the #1 album (Da REAList by Plies).

(14) OS says:

Will he go platinum? Hell no. no offense to him, but if Luda cant go platinum in a week, this man has zero hope. Plus, dude leaked the entire album purposely just to see if he could still be successful. How can you expect to people to get up off they asses and go to a store and pay money for your joints when they could download it for free from the internet. Dude, you played yaself. I wish him luck though. Not because I like him, I personally think he garbage, but thats just my opinion. Feel me?

(15) Ladii fresh 4 2012 says:

i believe that he can go platinum in a week if his fans support him… and as far as him destroying hip-hop… it’s a lie…. no one person alone can destroy hip-hop…. everyone on here who has somethign negative to say has the right to voice their opinion because of freedom of speech… but sometimes your thoughts are better left unsaid…. becuase of the fact of how ignorant yo all think at times…. if you have an issue with his lyrical speech… or the way he pusues his lyrics then simply keep your opinions to yourself… and support the artist you like… bacuase rather you like it or not your opinion aren’t going to stop his career it’s only going to make his fans support him more in order to prove you all wrong…. by the way i’m a teenager who happens to voice her opinion in a very intellgent way…..
