Eminem's New Album Set for December?

Monday October 27, 2008

Mark your calendars with a big red sharpie. Eminem's new album, The Relapse, is slated for December 23rd, if Amazon.com's release schedule is to be believed. Here's what we know for sure: Dr. Dre will handle a bulk of the production on Relapse, which is a welcome development. I think we can all agree that Eminem is a much better rapper than he is a producer. So, it's a good idea to let the hip-hop doctor work his magic while Slim concentrates on his rhymes.

Update: Amazon has now replaced the listing with an unspecified date.

Frankly, Eminem’s beats are mediocre. I’m glad that he’s letting Dre run the show in that department once again.

Dr Dre also produced the majority of encore. Neither Dre or Em

Dre produced a lot of the encore album. The big problem with Encore was that it was barely an album more like Eminem mumbling over Dre’s equally confusing beats. The album would have been great if Eminem focused on serious issues like he did in (Yellow Brick road, toy soldiers, etc.) Dre should have encouraged Eminem to go along that route and deal more with the issues that were troubling him ( accusations of racism, fame, burnout). I hope Dre really guided Eminem a lot better this time. Considering that Dre is producing both Relapse and Detox this could either be the year he rules hip hop or the year that his reputation is severely tarnished. I think its gonna go either way, it probably wont be something in the middle.

you thought the sing for the moment beat was mediocre? i thought the sample was brilliant. and henry, i’m not sure, but didn’t em produce lose yourself? one of the best beats i’ve ever heard.

Anyone defending Eminem’s production needs to look at his recent track record. He’s been making ass beats for years, a few gems from 2003 doesn’t excuse his track record.

I dunno what the hype is about… it’s obvious eminem isn’t the same rapper anymore, let’s face it, he sucks, he’s been sucking song appearance after appearance for the last 4 years now, ever since that d12 album came out eminem has sucked, i have given up on him, especially after his latest song ” I’m having a relapse” it’s nothing special at all, just a very very mediocre song, i dunno bout you guys, but eminem…for the first time…won’t be on my calender

Encore would have been the SH*ZZZnit if Em would have put some battle songs on the Album or even some of the unreleased D12 songs that were never released.

(18) Tyson says:

Eminem is slowly but surly getting more mature in his rhymes, and that stems from trying to be more of a father figure for hailey and what not… its obviouse from his recent work when he takes his mature self back to that funky stuff he used to rock, it just isnt there for him anymore… he needs to move forward with his real shit, that everyone can relate to if he wants to succeed…
