Eminem Announces First Solo Album in 4 Years

Thursday October 16, 2008

It's been 4 long years since Eminem dropped his last full-length solo album, the poorly received Encore. His next album has been the 2nd most eagerly awaited, behind Dre's Detox.

Last year, rumors of an album titled King Mathers swirled around the hip-hop community, with artists like 50 Cent and Akon backing up the claim. Now, Eminem himself has announced that there's, in fact, a new album in the works. Contrary to popular belief, though, the new album is not King Mathers. According to Eminem, his next album is titled The Relapse and that's all the information he's willing to reveal at the moment.

He made the pleasantly surprising announcement yesterday in a Shade 45 interview to help promote his upcoming book The Way I Am. He also confirmed that Dr.Dre will be handling a bulk of the production duties on the album, with possible guest appearances from both the usual suspects Dre and 50 Cent.

Oh my god! I just started listening to hip hop a few months ago. The only reason I switched over from rock music is because Eminem reached me in a way that no other musician ever has. While I also enjoy a lot of the other people like Jay-Z, Nas, and so on Mr. Mathers is still my favorite. For me there hasnt been a wait between albums, I just started listening to encore. Oh, and by the way Henry, I noticed you only have Eminem at #13 on your list of top 50 mc’s. He should move up to the top 10. That’s where MTV and a lot of other reviewers have him at. If his new album is good I hope you reconsider where you have him at.

I don’t think that was EM…it sounded like some1 else. I still bang Encore & I bang to Encore….I hope EM kills the record industry with this next release. its been along time since there has been a serious EM song. Not since Lose Yourself. Come back to the “Slim LP” Mr. Mathers…

I dunno, man… Em started to lose it(No pun intended)when you stopped being angry and mad at the world. From his 1st major album to encore, you could hear a softening of his music. And i’m not saying violence and hatred makes an album but part of Em’s appeal was that he was genuinely angry and his lyrics and style got you because of they were easy to relate to coz of that, i dunno if he still angry enough…. at any rate, looking forward to it, i’ll still get the album anyway, he still great musician i dunno about top 10 mc of all time tho….

WELL WE WILL JUST HAVE TO SEE. WHEN YOU POOR,BROKE & YOUR BACKS AGAINST THE WALL…YOU EITHER KILL YOUR SELF..OR YOU KILL YOUR SELF TO CHANGE LIFE AROUND YOU. I BELIEVE AFTER ‘EM SHOW’ THE HUNGER WASN’T THERE. THE PASSION WAS GONE ALONG WITH THE ANGER. THE SONG ROCK BOTTEM SAYS A LOT. HE’S HIGHER IN THE FOOD CHAIN NOW. BUT TRAGDY ALWAYS PROVIDES A LITTLE MOTIVATION & BRINGS OUT THE BEST IN SOME OF US. WILL WE GET THE SAME STUPID CRAP FARTING & BURPING ON A RECORD. OR WILL WE GET THE BATTLE , THE DRAMA, THE RAW ESSENCE OF STREET MUSIC FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS THE POTENTIAL TO SPIT IT…..THE RE-UP WAS OKAY…BUT OKAAY!!!! IT WASN’T SPECTACULAR. MY PERSONAL OPINION IS THAT “LOSE YOURSELF” WAS HIS BEST WORK. WE WILL JUST HAVE TO SEE I GUESS.
