Lil Wayne Leads 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards with 12 Nominations

Lil Wayne racked up a dozen nominations, including CD of the Year and MVP of the Year, to lead all nominees for the 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards. Kanye West picked up 7 nods, while his labelmate Jay-Z was nominated 6 times. Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons will be honored with the I Am Hip-Hop Icon Award.
This year's event is scheduled for the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center on October 18th. It will air on Thursday, October 23rd. Let's hope T.I., who missed last year's ceremony because he was busy buying guns, can stay out of trouble long enough to make it to the show this time.
