Raekwon Attacks Jay-Z and Kanye

Tuesday January 22, 2008

Raekwon is one of the Wu-Tang Clan's most outspoken members, and this time he's taking shots at two hip-hop stalwarts Jay-Z and Kanye West. While speaking to the New York Daily News recently, Rae called out his peers for not being "street" enough. "A lot of street people don't put stock in them anymore because they aren't doing enough to excite anyone," said Rae.

In his opinion, the two superstars have lost touch with their roots. So, what should Jay-Z and Kanye do to regain credibility with the 'hood? The therapy Dr. Raekwon suggests is that they return to the 'hood and donate $100,000. Now, here's the best part: When asked whether he'd be willing to do the same, Rae replied that he lacked the financial resources necessary to pull it off. I rest my case.

first of all, how is kanye “Street”? he never was. and secondly, jay didn’t lose touch, he just moved on to different topics. if he had stayed with the thug talk, it would’ve gotten boring. raekwon is overrated and needs to shut his mouth.

Raekwon has so much riding on CUBAN LINKS 2. His last two albums have been such disasters that he NEEDS this album to be a success. If CB2 bombs, he will look incredibly STUPID, especially after his criticisms of the beats from 8 DIAGRAMS and his lashing out at Jigga & Kanye for not being ’street’ anymore. He’s got so much to prove right now, so he needs to watch his mouth.

all these “MCs” should get over themselves and put their efforts into making good music.

I agree with the above comment that kanye was never street n jay-z never fully lost it, he has gone a little off being on all those R&B tracks but i thought american gangster was street.
As for Rae dont worry yo, he may talk alot but CB2 is gunna be on point

Damn, not many people realize Rae’s mad overrated. His stuff is redundant as hell. His diction is awfully limited. He talks about the same things: coke, weed, money, violence in the streets, and hustlers. What made Cuban Linx good was RZA’s beats, Ghostface, and the rest of the Wu Crew. Raekwon’s work on it was mediocre. And when you take Cuban Linx out of the equation, he ain’t done anything all that impressive. So he should watch his mouth and mind his own business. He’s getting too annoying. How the hell do you define being “street” anyways? Does he mean talking about useless stuff like he does? He couldn’t hold a candle to Jay in anyway. So you want Jay-Z to donate money? Do it yourself first and then suggest others.

I agree with every person on here with the comments and it’s obvious why Raekwon is mad at Kanye and Jay because they are WAY MORE NOTICED AND TALKED ABOUT IN THE INDUSTRY AND HE’S NOT but now his name is brought up to get fame because he’s saying negative remarks at 2 of the biggest stars..KANYE AND JAY.. Most of all Rae’s joints haven’t been the same since cuban links and Ghost was the backbone on that album anyways..I mean Rae was tight back then and who produced that album RZA…and who produce his other albums.. NUFF SAID

I heard My Corner,Cuban Chronicles and State of Grace off OB4CL2 and they all seem on point. It wont be even close to the first one but i think its the record that will keep Wu-Tang a dominant force in hip-hop.As for Rae’s comments,i dont worry.Rae is notorious for this type of comments, and we all love him for that.Peace.

im on raekwon’s side for this, because he knows what hes talkin about and hes not afraid to say what he feels.

Its lik this, if hip-hop is goin tru a bad period as far as all these cats that arent hiphop cumin out and gettin signed to these major labels and lettin them tell them wat to do, all dis snap, crunk, hphy and all the other awful music.
ur either a part of the problem or a part of the solution.
JAY Z AND KANYE are now sell outs, they have lost their roots and are now lik so many others in slavery with their labels.
