Eminem's "Big" Health Scare

Wednesday January 9, 2008

Eminem was rushed to a Detroit-area hospital over the holidays, according to TMZ.com. The rap star reportedly had a serious heart condition and complications due to pneumonia. "Over the holidays, Marshall Mathers was under doctor's care at a Detroit-area hospital for complications due to pneumonia," said Eminem's publicist. "He has since been released and is doing well recovering at home."

But that's not all. Eminem, famous for his Slim Shady nickname, is said to be battling weight problems as well. Sources revealed to TMZ that Em now weighs about 200 lbs. Seems like Mr. Mathers is going through some tough times right now. Hopefully, he'll squeeze some amazing music out of his experience like he's done in the past.

200 pounds is really not all that big. I know Em’s short, but still…it’s not like he’s ballooned into some massive ogre that shakes the ground he walks on if he is in fact weighing in at 200 pounds now. I know you didn’t say that, I’ve just read around the net & people are acting like it’s such a big deal, making absurd over exaggerations. I’m not sure if I believe it anyway…if he was really 200 pounds there’s no doubt in my mind that there’d be pictures of chubby Eminem all over every gossip magazine and all over the internet, and I can’t find any.

I hope he’s doing well. Both in health and emotionally. He’s kinda stayed out of the public eye for a while and I’ve read multiple times that he’s having a lot of personal problems.

I also do hope that new album sees light of day within the next year or 2. “Encore” had its moments but like most people I thought it was very disappointing, and I hope that “King Mathers” (if that’s really what it’s gonna be called) is his return to form and not his total falling off point like I fear it may be. It wasn’t that long ago that Em was considered by most to be one of the best rappers in the world; I’d like to once again hear THAT Eminem.

I think the main problem with Encore was the block of “goofy” songs right in the middle of the album. Had he replaced even just 3 of those songs (My 1st Single, Rain Man, and Big Weenie) with the three tracks from the Encore bonus disc, it would have been just as solid as The Eminem Show.

Damn are the songs Rain Man and Big Weenie so underrated. No one understands the beauty of those concepts. It’s just Em letting his silly and comedic persona take over him. And they really have good humor. I don’t like My 1st Single though. And there are songs like Mosh, Toy Soldiers, and Mocking Bird. Encore is just Eminem refraining from but repetitive.

Anyways, I really hope that Em gets well. And obesity? Damn never knew he had this problem. It’s unimaginable. When did Slim Shady all of a sudden turn into Chubby Shady? Take care of yourself Em and be back with a great CD.
