Preview: Rakim - Seventh Seal
Last year, hip-hop icon Rakim announced plans to release his first solo album in 7 years, the aptly titled Seventh Seal. In fact, when I interviewed Ra in 2006, he was almost certain that The Seventh Seal will be out by early 2007. To the disappointment of many fans, that album has witnessed more postponements than the U.S. legislature's immigration reform bill. All hope is not lost, though, Rakim recently revealed to Billboard.com that Seventh Seal will now be released through a partnership between his G&E Trust label and Koch Records. For details on Rakim's long-anticipated album, see our Seventh Seal preview.

Beanie Sigel is a Muslim and I own all his work.
yall dudes is young bulls, yall no nothin about RAKIM ALLAH
The God is back…I hope he enlightens these young kids out here, & shows them what the artform is all about. For the kids who ain’t familiar with Ra’s style, look up the lyrics to “It’s Been A Long Time” (”Follow procedures, the crowd couldn’t wait to see this- nobody been this long awaited since Jesus. Who wouldn’t believe this? I heard the word on the street is, I’m still one of the deepest on the mic since Adidas. They said I changed the times with the rhymes that I thought of, so I made some more to put the new world in order.”) I wish there were more kids out here who were influenced by Ra, but the last one I can think of who was truly influenced by Ra is Nas. If Ra’s influence isn’t carried on by the young kids coming up, then the artform will never be the same again.
Preved dyatlam!
His interview with the author was fantastic; he really made a lot of sense.
Rappers don’t have to be whores in order to see money. The lazier, sadder of the lot tend to pimp out their own children for a percentage.
Ironically, the way the listed him as [as revered as] JayZ it almost put them on the same plane. JayZ, however, is another of these whores, I think. He’s just the most famous hole.
