Ding! Ding!! Ding!!! The poll results are in. Two weeks ago, I asked you to pick sides in the manufactured PR showdown between 50 Cent and Kanye West; corporate vs. conscious, big dog vs. underdog. Turns out the underdog's on top this time. 65% of you voted in favor of Graduation, while Curtis only garnered 34% of the votes. Will this translate into the same result on SoundScan? We have a week to find out. *Fingers crossed.*

Kanye is a joke to hip hop, curtis is real and kanye is fake, kanye shouldn’t be considered because he is more pop, he should stick to producing, Jesus walks was his only good hit, he is a cry baby when he doesn’t win, and he gives no credit to a entertainment business who probably escalated his sales by giving him more publicity ( that being MTV) and goes as low as to bring race as the cause for his lack of reward at the VMA’s, expect 50 to be nominated a lot next year and win, btw I guess you could call 50 black, so then what will kanye’s next ignorant comment be to back himself up, he’s a partial racist. This whole publicity thing between the two helps kanye out more anyway, 50 is right, he should feel responsible for much of kanye’s success, especially after this new album. Meanwhile kanye you continue to sample, that including “you’re” major hit’s. 50 is not retiring no matter, his next album is almost required and is about 80 percent done already, it has the name close to this title, “The self-destruction” or something similar to that, then that will be followed by a greatest hits cd, before 50 can quote “Make his music organically” like Dr.Dre on a full scale and not under Interscope rule or shady aftermath ect.. 50 cent used another one of his tactics by starting beef to get his record sales up. First there was Ja Rule then The Game and now Kanye? Nah uh you cant Kanye nothing! This is why 50 cent is a corporate sellout. It isn’t about music to Fiddy its all about corporate standing. He comes out with the same time of music anyway? I never payed for one Fiddy’s of his cds and i wont pay for one now. All he did is switch up the drum pattern and change a couple of words in the lyrics. Kanye took 50’s advice and switched his style up and if they hate then let em hate and watch the money pile up. Kanye worked his butt off while 50 cent talked smack also Fiddy claimed he’ll retire if Kanye outsells him. Kanye didn’t mean for this to happen Fiddy but you had to make this into and egotistical beef and Kanye will smash you Fiddy so please don’t retire you still have some little fans out there.
As for Kanye, get that dirt off your shoulder. Graduation is CRAZY! the joints on that track will literally blow your mind it is a musical masterpierce and is a classic. i hope generations from now will look at this as they dig through there crates, looking for inspiration.
once again, 50 doesn’t have anything new up his sleeves. seriously, he always raps about being a gangsta. do you really think a person who gets rich will still be a gangsta? how does a wannabe ghetto gangsta live in a mansion and rap about his life shooting at people especially when you have security guards protecting you. it’s the same theme over and over again in his albums mostly. that goes the same for other rappers. i find it hypocritical that most of these rappers rap about being a gangsta but in reality they haven’t really shot at people for years after they become rich. tired of this pretentious crap. in my opinion, kanye’s album is just purely genius. the album is nothing like 50’s. it’s inspirational. it’s more real and the lyrics are just brilliant. 50 raps about being a gangsta and if you wanna get gangsta like how 50 does it in his songs then get real. i just can’t stand people trying to dis other artists in an album just so you can create more hype and get more sales. it’s a cheap tactic. almost like cheating. KANYE’s DEFINITELY GOT MY VOTE!
Having listened to both albums, there is not one song on ‘graduation’ I do not like. 50 cent is getting too repetitive. Unlike Graduation, I am struggling to find a song in ‘curtis’ that I like.

kanye is outselling 50 cent in sales rite now (Curtis: 603 000, Graduation: 781 000). kanye will out sell fiddy in first week sales no doubt, but 50 will probly win in the long run. AYO technology and I Get Money are really starting to buzz right now. Only time will tell.
If you are a true hip hop fan, you’d go and buy both cds, just so that country singer dont beat them both! I love both artists, and it hard to choose one over the other, because they’re both two different styles! Though, kanye uses some of 50’s verses on his album! what does that say about it all!

Kanyes album is horrible. Recycled rhymes and beats (however good they are.. great production) with sub sub sub par lyrics. Worst lyrical representation Ive ever heard on an album. Watching all you sheep blindly accept this album makes me think youve never heard a true MC before. Try these on for size: common, eminem, immortal technique. Since when does a good beat make a good song. Kanye, plz retire with 50
Jeff, you said that Kanye stole some of 50’s verses. how the hell do you know that it wasn’t the other way around? and, furthermore, IF Kanye were to ever steal any verses, why would he steal those of a gangster rapper? I just listened to both albums tonight, and to be totally honest, I think there is alot of room for improvement for both of these rappers. the songs seem like they were thrown together quickly with no real emotion attached to them. whatever happened to the real music, how many times can you tell the same story, and how many ways can you try to get paid? i long to someday soon hear some real music.

Ahh…tyree your a dumbass, Kanye didn’t use any 50 Cent verses..he took about two lines from In Da Club..and just because you have hits doesn’t make you a good rapper with substance..Kanye has waaaayy more substance and 50 only does it for the money..thats why he has hits, cuz he’s commercial..Real recognize real, Peace to all the real lovers of Hip Hop music.
Listened to both cds more than once. Curtis is personally something I like listening to on the daily basis. It plays with my emotions, unlike Graduation that keeps me in the same monotonous mood (although a very soothing, relaxing album). Graduation has songs I like: Good Life, Can’t Tell Me Nothing, Homecoming. However, I enjoy every Curtis song (except I dont enjoy Fire, it’s too pop-ish).
i do not know how anyone even considers 50 cent to be a talented Hip Hop artist. I will admit that I was a fan of his first album despite the fact that i think “gansta” rap is a form of music that promotes a negative and demeaning stereotype for all American, here and overseas. However 50 cent hasn’t changed the formula… he is still rapping about money sex and violence. How long can anyone really listen to and support the same generic sound.
I believe despite the oversized ego… Kanye West is and will always be one of the top 5 MCs. The same reasons that I believe he is and will stand the test of time. He embodies what real Hip Hop should be… it tells a story, it opens yours eyes and it reflects on diversity… not just sex money and violence.
If anyone should be considered pop it is Curtis… who is just trying to capitalize on his gansta image by marking the tank tops he wears and promoting gang affiliation in both his music, his movies and his clothing line.
and all those critics who call Kanye’s beats recycled… probably do not realize how many artist do the same thing and no one notices. Sampling is a part of the Rap/Hip Hop industry.. The only difference is most artist spend more time trying to cover up the fact that they have done it and too many put a focus on the music. Hip Hop is about the lyrics… Promise you if you removed the beat…. 50 wouldn’t sound so good…
In conclusion, even if Kanye didn’t win… 50 would be retiring soon… He running out of people to attack and threaten and figuratively murder in his songs.. His 15 minutes are pretty much over and he is having trouble pulling off this repeat performance… Kanye shouldn’t worry because in 20 yrs when people talk reflect on the greatest rappers of there youth or kids jam old school music all what he will remember most is “50 Who?”

iiight i kno that kanye is definately the better lyricist but the album was garbage.. i heard like 3 GOOD songs the best instrumental was i wonder but the lyrics could definatly be a lot better and i kno that becuz ive heard him do better over all the abum is alright but 50 is definatly the definition of hip hop right now…
