Disco D Commits Suicide, DJ Warrior Reacts

Wednesday January 24, 2007
The hip-hop community was devastated by news of Disco D's suicide two days ago. The young Detroit native had been battling manic depression stemming from a number of music-related and non-music related issues. DJ Warrior (Czar Squad DJ) was one of the last people to hear from Disco D before his sudden death. We caught up with Warrior to find out what forced Disco D into depression and suicide. You won't believe what he told us. See DJ Warrior's reaction to Disco D's death.

It recently has come to my attention about Disco D’s passing. I remember talking with him a few times and I can say that he was a very nice person and an excellent DJ. I recall him doing a pitch modification on a pair of 1200’s on site of the event we were both playing minutes before he was to go on. It was the first time I had ever seen anyone do this. I had spoken to him a few times over the years and remember talking a few times about music business. This news was shocking to say the least. I think that it’s horrible that he is no longer with us. I found this interview online from DJ Warrior who was working with Disco D prior to his death. In my opinion the blame goes to the industry that was robbing him, destroying his confidence and literally eating him alive. Many of you aspiring DJ’s/ Artists beware, the music business has a 90% failure rate with more odds against you than winning the lottery. It is so unfair that labels get away with ripping off artists that are as gifted as Disco D. My condolences go out to his family, his music careers legacy will live on each time one of his classics are played.
