CD Review: Mos Def - Tru3 Magic

Saturday December 30, 2006
Mos Def, often described as the renaissance artist of his era, has achieved success in film, Broadway, and, of course, music. His debut album Black on Both Sides sold over 785,000, while his sophomore effort The New Danger generated more than 445,000 units in sales. On Tru3 Magic, the mighty Mos Def reverts back to his b-boy roots. Is third time the charm?

I just heard the album and it’s good. Of course it’s not better than his first album but it’s 20 times better than his second one.

I just love the guy even if I haven’t listened to him yet. In the future I wanna buy all his album. I discovered him through the book “Holler if you hear me”. I can’t wait to meet with him. my goal in life is to let positive hip hop be known i n Africa . Frankly all my brothers wanna be lazy gangstas cuz they think that it is the best way to be a man. i don’t blame them cuz 50, snoop,…sexual videos are more famous in africa than even here. nobody knows about the real rappers, the conscious messages of Mos Def, Talib, Nas…. head up for you guys. i am not a rapper but an advocate journalist who believe that hip hop can save my generation. We have to promote those are committed buying their stuff.

Yo Moutiou, I think that’s awesome that you r trying to bring positive hip hop to Africa. I will pray for u, that u will meet that goal and hopefully that would help the people realize the true meaning of Hip-Hop. I hate mainstream hip hop, it’s brainwashing many African Americans in thinking that money, sex, and drugs, is what matters in life, and if your black and not smoking weed, or having sex all day, or a thug, your not black. That’s not being black, that’s being a n*****.
