Jay-Z Adresses Roc-A-Fella Split on Kingdom Come

Thursday October 26, 2006
Jay-Z's Kingdom Come is easily the most eagerly-anticipated rap album of the fourth quarter. No wonder the internet has been buzzing about all things Hov lately. On a newly-leaked song titled "Lost Ones," Jay-Z touches on his decision to split from partners and co-founders of Roc-A-Fella Records Dame Dash and Kareem "Biggs" Burke. Over Dr. Dre's piano-drenched beat, Jay rhymes:
N***as wasn't playing their day role/ So we parted ways like Ben and J-Lo...I put friends over business at the end of the day though," adding, "I ain't a b***h but I gotta divorce them...You lost one, one, one..."
The second verse finds Jay speaking on his relationship with a 23-year old woman, who treasures her work over him (I don't think it's meant to be (be), for she loves her work more than she does me /And honestly, at 23 I would probably love my work more than I love she). The third verse is a heartwrenching tribute to his late nephew.

Led by "Show Me What You Got," Kingdom Come arrives on November 21 to mark Jay's return to active recording. However, fans of both Jay-Z and his basketball team New Jersey Nets will receive the album before it hits shelves.
