Is Dame Dash Still Mad At Jay-Z?
Monday July 17, 2006
It's been more than one year since the three founding fathers of Roc-A-Fella severed ties, and Dame Dash still seems to be holding grudges against Jay-Z. You'll recall that Dash tried to play off his obvious support for Cam'ron back when Cam began his anti-Jay-Z campaign with "You Got to Love It" by saying that it's only fair for Jay-Z to respond to the diss song. Well, Jay-Z hasn't responded, and Dash is still pushing his buttons, hoping that something will give.
The latest testament to Dame's saltiness didn't come to me as a surprise. Here's how the self-proclaimed ultimate hustler remembers Jay-Z's early days as a rapper:
"Everybody thought he was too old. They didn't like the way he dressed - like a Harlem dude. "The Brooklyn cats who were more dominant were known for doing things like gold teeth, much more ghetto." (Source)Even though he went ahead to admit that he was shocked by Hov's tall aspirations, Dame's belligerence still shows: "He wasn't ghetto enough." "He wasn't rocking gold teeth." Give me a break. Granted, I, too, would be disappointed to watch one person commandeer everything we built together, but what's the point in crying over spilled beans? Instead of running about taking cheap shots at Jay-Z, and complaining that there's no money in rap, Dame should try channeling his hustlemanship into some worthwhile endeavors like his erstwhile friend has been doing lately.
