Jay-Z Didn't Forget Lyrics at Reasonable Doubt Concert, Plans World Tour
Monday June 26, 2006
Clad in a white tuxedo and backed by a ?uestlove-led orchestra, Jay-Z rocked the stage on June 25th, 2006 to the tune of his first album, Reasonable Doubt. To the fascination of the crowd, Jay performed the entire album in reverse order. Although the show was originally billed as "one man, one night," Hov couldn't resist sharing the stage. Beyoncé replaced Mary J Blige during a knockout performance "Can't Knock the Hustle." Fresh off a hearing restoration surgery, Foxy Brown joined Jay for for "Ain't No N***a," while Memphis Bleek and Sauce Money assisted with "Coming of Age" and "Bring it On" respectively. As an indication that he's been close to his rhyme book lately, Jay subbed the second verse of "22 Two's" with another concept verse dubbed "44 Four's," where he mischievously quipped: "Debut - classic first album, four mics
Should have got a five, but n***as lack foresight," an obvious frown at The Source magazine's controversial mic-rating system.
The show may be over in New York but, Jay-z will continue to rock other venues during a newly-announced world tour that will see him traveling to Seoul, Beirut, Dubai, Johannesburg and Sydney this fall. A new album from the 'retired' rapper may also be on the horizon. When the Associated Press posed the question at his concert rehearsal, he didn't rule out the possibility:
"I go back and forth with it" he told AP. "I believe the industry as a whole needs certain events to happen to sustain it and keep it alive. You need (Dr.) Dre albums, you need Eminem albums you need 50 (Cent) albums, you need big artists, you need major events that happen. … So when I look at it in those terms, I believe that an album is needed."Jay-Z Related Articles Photo:© Roc-A-Fella
