Hip-Hop Blog Round-Up: 50 Cent Wants To Produce 2Pac's Album

Saturday May 20, 2006

Someone please tell Afeni Shakur to hide all of 2Pac's masters and vocals from 50 Cent. 50 says he's not too happy with the way people handled the late great rapper's albums in the past, so he wants to produce the next one. I'm not convinced by Fiddy's promise that he'll churn out a better 2Pac album than All Eyez On Me (which is far from 'Pac's best work by the way). Curtis also expressed some concerns over the creative direction of Tupac's prior posthumous releases, which would include Loyal To The Game, exclusively produced by Eminem. Hmm....looks like he's trying to tell his boss something. (Source: Livejournal - Hip-Hop)

The blogosphere is still fizzling over the recent Radio City Hall concert featuring The Roots, Nas, Common, and others. According to The Assimilated Negro, ?uestlove wasn't joking when he said "don't be late to the show." One of my favorite hip-hop bloggers, Joey over at Straight Bangin,' has an expansive unslanted synopsis of the concert. Other than Talib Kweli's listless performance and the hasty Nas set (15 minutes!?), it appears this was a great show. (Source: Straight Bangin')

Eminem is a gutter producer. And I don’t mean that in no nice way. Every beat is the same–synth heavy, ersatz emotion, boring, melodramatic. 50 will likely do no better. They should perhaps get some of their own new ideas rather than further exhume and degrade deceased rappers who didn’t ask for their sh*t to get recycled.

I shudder to think what Mr. Billion Dollar Budget will do emboldened by “successes” like the abortion of an album that he helped put together for Club Mobb.

nas’s performance was hasty, but i definitely jumped out of my chair when i heard “bravehearts” coming from the wings. it was great to see him live, and no songs from street disciples were played. talib kweli pretty much shouted into his mic the whole set, and common rocked it. the show was set up much like dave chappelle’s block party — the roots played the whole time and different mcs weaved in and out. big daddy kane was the only surprise guest that showed up. friday night had jay-z and a comedy set by mr. chappelle himself. i only went to thursday’s show, but friends went to friday night and gave me the whole report. so was it worth the cash to feel the bass reverberate through radio city music hall? i have no regrets ;)

MULTI-PLATINUM HIP-HOP PRODUCER
PREPS FOR ANOTHER 20 MILLION

Atlanta, GA (October 11, 2007) – With 20 Million albums worldwide already on his plate by contributing to 50 Cent’s rap career with the smash hit “Wanksta,” Multi-Platinum and ASCAP (Rhythm & Soul) Award winning producer J-Praize is ready for another 20 million hit with his new record label “Tha Cross Entertainment.”

This venture inspired by the talented producer’s belief in sacrifice, is already producing waves within the music industry with a roster of dynamic and emerging artists. Major record labels are already talking about including Tha Cross Entertainment to their line-up.

One of The Cross’s artists is a veteran to the music scene. Former Yung Joc group member, Real McCoy, was specially hand-picked by J-Praize and has been strategically developed by “Tha Cross Entertainment” team and is now actively ready and prepared to take the hip-hop industry by storm with his first single “Porn Star,” (mp3 clean version attached aka Super Star) The upbeat track is already a hit in the Clubs and also receiving major radio requests in many markets. But it doesn’t stop there; J-Praize has also composed an exclusive production team which includes several powerful producers and songwriters that are already producing smash hits for the label’s artists. Tha Cross’s songwriting team “Tha Collective” are also writing songs and tracks for different artists outside his label.

J-Praize is definitely not your average producer from the East Coast. The triple threat Queens, NY native is not only a producer but is also a mentor to his artists and a hands on Record Executive/CEO who looks to craft and build his label while promoting his artists. As he and his record label grows, J-Praize seeks to gain more talented artists, producers and songwriters, male and female, ready to top the charts.

Currently based in Atlanta, Tha Cross Entertainment looks to appeal to different aspects of music and hip-hop lovers by producing music that listeners can sit and relate to the real and sometimes blunt lyrics, but at the same time, enjoy the catchy beats that makes them want to dance and have fun.

J-Praize expects nothing less than what he has already sacrificed for and MUSIC is just one of them.
