Hip-Hop Mom - Interview with Shawnna

Sunday May 14, 2006
You see, back when they thought Salt-N-Pepa would hurt the game, before Missy got "Tha Rain" to pop, hip-hop mothers were unheard of. Even Lauryn Hill touched on her own epic bout with motherhood in her song, "To Zion." Shawnna has never been one to bite her tongue, and she minced no words while telling her DTP boss about her stance on juggling motherhood with hip-hop recently. She also revealed to me the 3 female rappers that have inspired her over the years, and what it's going to take for female MC's to succeed in the male-dominated industry. If you're reading this page because you expected some vivid details about Shawnna's blazing single, "Getting Some...," you're on the wrong side of the tracks, or are you? Read on to see what else Shawnna wants to get off her...um, chest.
