Hip-Hop Blog Round-Up: Gravy Banned On Hot 97, DJ Star Arrested
Friday May 12, 2006
Eskay over at nahright.com started an interesting discussion about New York radio station Hot 97's ban on Gravy's music. Following last month's Hot 97 shooting involving Gravy, DJ Kay Slay announced that the rapper's music will no longer be played on the radio station (as if it was the music that did the shooting). Interestingly, though, 50 Cent and The Game are still allowed to enjoy airplay even though, they too were involved in an altercation long before Gravy. I guess it's easier to ban a rapper whose music was rarely ever played as opposed to multi-platinum selling artists like 50 and Game.(Source:Nahright.com)
Another buzzing topic within the hip-hop blogosphere is the disturbing sexual threat made by Power 105's own on-air personality, Star of The Star & Bucwild Morning Show. The DJ recently received the boot from his employers for threatening to do things that I can't even describe on this page without ruining your day to rival DJ Envy's 4-year old daughter. Head on over to Concrete Loop for the excerpts, only if you're strong enough to withstand vile comments directed at a little girl. (Source:Concrete Loop)
Michael Miraflor over at Hip-Hop Blogs tells the tale of how a fan saved the day at a poorly received Lupe Fiasco concert. Michael noted that he was one of few Lupe fans in a crowd that knew little about the hip-hop wonderboy. A performance of Lupe's smash, "Kick Push" was thwarted several times by an incompetent DJ, and it took a staunch Lupe follower to make things happen. A complete concert review is available on hip-hopblogs.com
