Jay-Z Announces Winner of The Nets Theme Song Contest
Thursday April 6, 2006
I've always wondered who Def Jam president and part owner of the New Jersey Nets, Jay-Z, would pick to record and perform the team's theme song. It turns out that Jay-Z decided to go with a song titled "Going Hard" by a Manhattan-based emcee known as M Bars. When el presidente Hov launched the songwriting competition last month, more than 700 amateur rappers responded. Ballerstatus.net reports that Jay picked M Bars because he captures the intensity and flavor of the Nets' game experience.

With Jay-Z, Nelly, and Usher being part owners of NBA teams the fusion of “basketball and hip-hop” is even greater. The Dunkadelic terminology is the one term that defines this great cultural relationship.
