SXSW - 2006

Wednesday March 15, 2006
Oh, so you thought Texas' hip-hop hegemony was over? Not so fast. The Lone Star state still has a strong choke hold on the rap game, as the musicfest that we all know as SXSW (that's South by Southwest in case you're wondering how to pronounce it) is underway and in full gear in Austin, TX. Since 1987, music enthusiasts everywhere have been flooding the Texas capital annually to party and douse their troubles away, hook up with their myspace cronies, and oh, to see their favorite artists perform live. Although SXSW originally featured rock artists, it has recently been hijacked by hip-hoppers. From March 10 - 19, the music and media festival will hold the entire state of Texas to a standstill. I'll be in Austin along with my entourage of music-loving friends this weekend. See you there. Yes?
